How to ship a motor

I just crated a 700 cat motor to ship to Montana from Colorado. I see greyhound has a 100lb limit, with the crate and motor I cant get it inside that restriction.

How have you all shipped motors in the past?

Heres a pic. Its 1/2" wood?? Even dropping to 1/4 would put me over the limit as the motor itself is heavy. Any ideas??

Thanks in advance!

i used ups last week to ship the motor i sold. the box looked just like the one you built. the motor was shipped from minn. to new jersey.

I've shipped two different engines in the same manor. One 700 twin and one 800 XCR triple.

FEDEX! GET YOURSELF A FEDEX ACCOUNT!!! Signup online. I ship everything via Fedex and find it to the cheapest and I have had great luck with it.

I put my engine in a rubbermaid tote with a couple 2x4s in the bottom, then tape the duct tape the crap out of it. This should be smaller then the crate and doesn't cost much. Not sure if the crate is within their size limits. Check their website.

In a cooler. I shipped 2 motors to canada last year for less then 150 each using ups.

Got a motor with clutch shipped 600 miles (in a cardboard box) for $33.00. Speedy Delivery If they have service in your area, you can't beat their prices.

For a small packaging fee, I had the local polaris dealer ship a motor for me. It worked out great.
