How to negotiate with a dealer?

Step over a dollar and pick up a dime?

Febuary 09 purchased and 09 M8 SP for $8499. plus tax. the dealer had to many and simply said I am selling a few to get rid of potential flooring bills? They loose one sale they loose them all from the same client typically. that's the key. I asked the local dealer I bought my M1000 from the year before (at almost retail) that if we was close I would buy the 09 from him, he said "good luck they will screw you". I went and bought it (they didn't screw me) and will never spend another dollar in the store I bought my 08 from again. Shear principal. Keep in mind I have spent several thousand in accessories since then.

Two full z-bro's suspension kits (not cheap)
case of oil
Several belts think I have 7-8 hanging in my trailer as we speak
1100 in Klim gear this year.
Power claw track for the 08 M1000
SLP pipe kit for the M8
Two 09 boss seats

hmmmm and the dealer decided to throw it away over maybe 500-1000 bucks? I plan to spend about another 2k in the next couple months. stupid... stupid... stupid. I might even buy a 2010 if they reviews are good in January?

I pulled out the stops. In one e-mail I emailed all the dealers I could find for a bid price for all the toys I wanted installed. There was a $2000 diferance. The most expensive dealer was the closest and would not deal. They all knew I had put them against eachother. I feel no one has an exclusive on my check book. We were both happy in the end. Treat them right and walk if they don't treat you right. You have the cash and they want it.

Dealers

I call my local dealer and 2 others and as long as he is within 200-400 dollars
I will stick with my local dealer every time. There is more then just "price." Remember, part of this sport is beating the piss out of these things and they break. On many occasions I have walked in at the last minute and needed this or that and they bend over backwards, ship over night, or put my sled on the rack and get it handled so my weekend or trip is not ruined. That is "pricless." As long as its a good shop loyalty will pay for its self 10 times over again!

Good luck!:beer;
