How to fix my gravel driveway?

The snow is melting around my place and it is turning my driveway into a mudhole. What can i use to pack it down once it dries up? Would you just put some more gravel down and pack or put just some rock on it once the base is pack really good?

Do u have good drainage so the water is not running across it?? Next make sure u have a good base. U can roll it with a big roller and it will make a HUGE difference. I will see if I can find a pic of mine.

Recycled asphalt.
Pours down just like gravel but you can pack it down with a plate compacter or a smooth vibrating roller.

just rake it out (with a nice crown in the middle to facilitate runoff) and then pack it down.

Check it out.
You can call your local ashpalt plant and see what the cost of the recycled asphalt is.
I think you will find it is about the same cost as gravel.

Seen guys put down mess not for sure what it is called. Might be more work than what you want to do. Got to get down to a sold base then put down the mess and fill with gravel. It keeps the clay and gravel separate have seen it done on roads and lots.

The water isn't running across it, but water is sitting on it in the ruts that are there. The ruts or 6"-10" deep in areas and the water just sits in them. The drive way is proably about 20' wide x 75' long. So you guys would recomend to put some crushed or recyeled concrete down? What type of roller would you use to pack it?

Yes it does, but asphalt is harder to grade after it sets up.

Please elaborate? I process 50-60 thousand ton's of rap a year for roads, parking lot's, driveway and use in the asphalt plant. Processed rap goes down just like any other gravel product. After it's graded and if you can get enough water on it and get it compacted it doesn't unravel or segregate. I'm pushing for the use of crushed concrete (free product) and I'd like to know why you think it's superior to asphalt! :)

What can i use to pack it is there an attachment for a skid steer or for a compact tractor with a catergory 1 3point to help pack it?

I do not think that concrete is superior to asphalt. We use concrete to fill in wet sloppy roads as it tends to soak up the moisture. In our area asphalt is used more in places that we want the benifits of hot mix without the expense. As you said, you process 50-60 thousand ton's of rap a year for roads, parking lot's, driveway and use in the asphalt plant. I was just saying that in this instance to firm up his road that I thought that concrete was the answer.

Cool Out!!!! :D:D:beer;:beer;

rap is good untill the oil washes out and you basically have a sandy gravel left. if you can get crushed granite is great. we use crushed concrete because it is readily available in or area. the bigget thing to do is get the drive tappered so the water does not sit on the drive.
