How to change Clutch wieghts

hey guys, i tried searching for it but i could not find it. How do i chnage my wieghts? is it just a unscrew and put new wieght on and tighten or do you have to take the belt off and push the sleave in a bit to release tension on the wiegths if there is any?

thanks

Take the belt off, take a big screwdriver, seperate the spider, put a socket in the gap, pull the screwdriver out, and then proceed to change each weight, check rollers while your in there.

If your doing it in the sled/field, this little tool from SLP is pretty handy and easy to carry. You can carefully place a decent screwdriver between the moveable sheeve and the spider and compress forward. Then place the tool between the two sheeves to hold them compressed while you change out the weights. It is also handy to have a 5/16 ignition style wrench for the clutch weight pin nut. The clearance is kinda tight for a standard end wrench. Good luck. EW

I made a tool very similar to the SLP tool, I just used some flat steel scrap bent to work. I like to use a good size pry bar to compress the clutch after removing the belt.
