How squirley was your 900 after you took the swaybar out on the trail?

The one ride I've had on this thing this year was just a short trail ride to 'shake it down' and see how it was gonna run .... I took the swaybar out this year, but I did put heavier springs in the front shocks.

I don't know if I just have my camber off and/or my skis out of alignment, but it acts like it wants to dart and is just generally speaking not near as stable on the trail, even in a straight line .... it's pretty squirley actually. It isn't that you can't go full throttle down the trail, it's just that you are like always having to pretend you're a steering stabilizer so to speak I guess ...

Is this typical after removing the swaybar or is my front end just out of alignment?

I was jumping some hills and got the life scared out of me because when I unhooked the swaybar the sled would land on one ski first, it would just keep rolling to that side instead of straitening out as if the bar was installed. It was easier to side hill, but for the amount of sidhilling i do it was not worth it. I could fly down trailes at 50-60mph with the bar, but without i got so much body roll that only 30-40 felt comfortable. I did notice more darting also.

I did ride a 900 rmk with fox 2 shocks and no sway bar and that handled nice.

i have taken one trip with my 9 with no sway bar and i didn't like it at all. i have float 2's up front and it was just plain squirly. i think i am going to put the 09 swaybar set up on it this summer.

I run without mine. It sounds pretty much like mine on the trial.I have 135# springs and adjustable resi's on my WE shocks . I increased the preload and cranked down on the clickers a notch or two to keep it from diving so much in the front end. Its not good on the trials but I dont care It will sidehill and go places that scare me!

As a Michigan rider....*note to self* leave swaybar on!!!!
Thanx guys, we clip the trails here and cover many miles in a day verses "boonedockin". This was something that I no longer need to think about!

I've always run without one. Stock shocks, it was a challenge on the trail...Had Zero Pros last season and no problem, have Floats this year and it's even better.

what are you running for air pressure in your front float shocks?

I took mine out the second day I owned the sled this last summer, and have no regrets, I love how tippy the sled is off trail. If your running the cheapy non-adjustable shocks your gonna want to get some adjustable ones. I have the snow-check ryde-fx adjustables and had to crank up the pre-load almost all the way to get the sled to keep from doing barrel-roles in the corners (the first ride was quite interesting:eek:) I can go as fast as I want on the straight-aways but definitely have to slow way down for the corners.
As to "squirly", cranking up the front spring pressure (and setting the ski stance all the way out) will definitely help, the stock spring setting is just too soft once you remove the sway bar. :beer;

Same as Fordguy, my 05 900 50Th I pulled the sway bar out right away and love it! Stock snow check springs Ryde–FX as well and I tuned the shock adjustment to find that sweet spot, updated the spindles, ski set for a wide stance and running SLP Powder Pros. I only notice darting when the trail is real bad and that’s only maybe 10% of the ride time the rest the front end is off the ground hill climbing or ripping through the powder! Swaybar yes or no, really depends on the type of riding & snow that's for sure.

Glad to hear the mixed reviews..:face-icon-small-hap I was just talking to a few people last night about doing this.. You get a different response from everyone you talk to it seems.. some love it, some dont, some say you need different shocks, some dont.. Guess I will try it.. If it sucks I can always just put it back in..:face-icon-small-coo I hate the way it rides now anyway so I dont know if it could get much worse..

I have ran with mine out so long I dont remember what it was like with it. I do not have any "darting" issues but will dive in corners if we are trail racing but that doesnt happen much so never really noticed. I did put WE shocks on it this summer and have not rode it since so maybe that will change things??

I have a set of Fox Zero Pros that are from Carl's Cycle .... They told me that the only difference in the setup of those shocks they recommend between what they sell them as for a "stock" 900 and one with the swaybar removed is running a 110 lb/in spring instead of their default 100 lb/in.

I am wondering if I can send them back and have them re-valve them or if going with the 2009 swaybar would be a better idea.

Since my M8 is my primary sled now, the 900 is the "loaner" ...but I really don't want to loan it to somone whose never ridden before with it acting that flaky. It's an awful lot of sled at this point to let somone with no experience ride it I spose heh :)

Thru it away won't go back

2005 / 166 Ryde FX, Stock Springs. Holtz EZ Steers, Grippers,

Re Adjust your Caster / Camber and toe in with you on it. Not static.

I also put .407 springs on the back

Love it, I took theSway bars off all my Edge Chassis sled when I rode those also. But I don't spend much time on the Trail.

I think my swaybar was bent because it would keep falling out of the a-arms. It rides fine without the swaybar but is a little challenging to keep from death-gripping the bars when it gets squirrly. It makes it worse if you go slower and grip the bars too tight. Just ride it loose and fast an its fine. In the powder it is awesome. Turns a lot quicker so be ready.

does anyone have a swaybar they would like to get rid of I am looking to put one back in my 05 fusion it is short enough that it is super squirly

SURE..

i will GIVE you my old sway bar and hardware if you need it...just send me a few $ for shipping...PM me for my info..

On a side note...i installed the 09 Dragon sway bar on my 900 a few weeks ago and got to ride it finally last weekend...WOW...it was very nice, plenty stable and i could do everything i did w/o one before...

i have fox floats, 09 holz spindles and the zbroz a-arms so i had to get the zbroz sway bar bracket to use the sway bar, but all in all, i am VERY happy with it...so if anyone has the 09 front end conversion and wants to try out the new style sway bar..i think you will like it...

guidoxpress, how hard was it to put the 09 sway bar in,I have Holtz front end with walkers with a piggyback put on by fabcraft.

I was really curious what the 09 swaybar was like, would you recommend it? Is it a different P/N than the stocker?

If so I'll put the 100 lb/in springs back in my shocks and order one.
