How often do you change your AFR sensor?

I'm running an AEM gauge and o2 sensor. Running pump gas on a impulse kit. Just curious how often you guys are changing your sensor? Yearly maintenance item?

Thanks

My first one last about 5000kms, 2nd one, 100kms :face-icon-small-dis
Yours should last a long time running pump fuel. Its the leaded fuels that kill them.

change it when it starts giving you numbers you know are not accurate. no reason to change it before that

I seem to go through a Bosch sensor almost every year for my prologger, even since running just pump gas.

i just put my aem afr on my turbo rx1 and it reads lean at idle even if i turn the choke on to where it starts to stumble but when i rev it up to where it starts to engage it comes down to 13.8 any ideas could it be the sensor?

Thanks. That test is a good idea. Just don't want to chance it since the closed loop impulse system does adjust according to the afr reading. maybe I'll just pack a spare if I think the afr numbers are off.

So if the sensor is bad and the numbers are off and the closed loop system adjust it won't the number read right??

Packing a spare is a great idea. We always have at least one in the group because they get damaged if a sled rolls and gets some snow on the sensor. A minor spill won't do it, but the colossal failures will get some up there and it takes just the tiniest bit of water to kill it.

For me, if the display starts reading 14.7 all the time and it doesn't change when you blip the throttle...it's toast. Bosch part number 17018 at any Auto Zone or O'reilly. We like Auto Zone for the lifetime warranty.

Thanks Rhett Ill have to pick up a spare!!

You might want to double check that Bosch number for the AEM guage cause mine uses a 17205. My other gauge used the 17018 and the plug was different.

a bit of water will kill the sensor?? this worries me.. just finishing rear mount nytro with tunnel dump exhaust.. Pretty hard not to have snow touch exhaust???

Am i missing somthing?

my brother ran the same set up never killed a sensor just a gauge when he rolled it.

We've had several go out after a colossal crash (like that ever happens :face-icon-small-ton ) and snow gets up in the exhaust to the probe, not so much from regular riding. I'm not the expert, but it should be placed in the top of the exhaust so that it won't be in a water-collecting place. When the sled is running, the exhaust flow keeps snow out.

Frankly, I don't know if it's because it's hot and the snow ruins it when it hits the sensor, or if it's when you restart the engine and there's water on the sensor...I just know that we see it happen.
