How much extra weight do you pack around

probably 8-10 lbs in my bag, but thats why its in a bag, i can take it off and leave it at the bottom of a big climb

I dont even want to know what my pack weighs. I carry alot of stuff in it and I know its heavy. The good thing is that it fits me well and with the shulder, chest and waist strap adjusted right I dont even know its there.

Also, before anyone posts it.....there is nothing in my pack thats goign to stab into my back in a crash. Its been tested several times and its all good!! Eric

So where is your shovel and probe when you do a big climb? I really don't know how much my backpack weighs and don't care....it has survival gear and I am not lightening that up.

No extra weight but about 20 pounds of necessities in my pack and 10 pouinds of tools in the sled.

when i'm in avy conditions i take my abs bag, if i'm wearing a beacon its under my coat, and shovels are for stock sleds;) just kiddin

pack weight about 10 -12 lb and nerver leaves my back be lost with out it. all safty **** in there an i dont leave it on a snow bank even for a couple more feet on a highmark

Let's see... shovel, probe, 2L water, a few water bottles, rope, radio or three, mexican socket set, camera, duct tape, knife, leatherman, lunch, spare batteries, keys... never weighed it, but it's not feathery-light. Not leaving the truck without most of that stuff anyways, so it's a moot point.

I *could* leave it off when i'm on a hill, but i'm sure i'd do something dumb and end up needing something in there.

Pack weight is 17 pounds.

I carry shovel, 2 space blankets, magnesium fire starter, waterproof matches, a small torch lighter, very small compass, a multi-tool, a liter or hot water to add to my mre-type lunch, several energy bars, nuts, gps, spot finder, a 12X monocular, flashlight, glowstick, red led flasher, 30 feet of 1500 lb tape, a dozen zip ties, roll of gorilla tape, a 9" folding saw, a digital camera, an extra set of goggles, cell phone, wallet, extra gloves and socks.

This is a huge list, but when you ride alone, it probably will keep me alive an extra day.

Whatever will fit in my ABS 30. Shovel, probe, camera, spare gloves, spare goggles, extra sweater, emerg blanket and a partridge in a pear tree. then I dial up another pound of boost to offset the weight :D

My pack is probably close to 40 pounds, but it's mostly safety stuff I'd like with me at all times. I carry the same bag when I'm guiding tours too. Most of the guests we take out have never been on a sled before, so I'm responsible for the safety factor because they just don't know what they need to have.

I wear the same pack on days when I'm riding with my friends. I feel like it's better to have the extra weight on my back rather than on my sled. Being a girl, I think it's better for me to have a little extra weight to help me throw around the sled in more of a controlled way.

Aside from a few tools and survival kit in the sled-pouch, my backpack usually has H20, First Aid Kit, and maybe an extra pair of gloves/fleece, and Shovel/Poles (maybe 8-12lbs max). On me I carry beacon, Gps, 2-Way radio. And in the windshield bag is usually misc. Emergency stuff and a 6 pack of bee....er I mean Coke.

I like to spread my weight around. Heavy backpacks are annoying when landing or in the Whoops.....

I conure. Its all stuff I need. If Im going to lighten anything up its going to be me. Most of us could stand to loose a lb or 2.

im probably at around 15 or more pounds before lunch and 15 even after... i keep lots of good stuff always in the pack, random survival stuff, shovel saw probe, extra snacks, water, rope, i like to get towed out, gloves, extra goggles, or just lense. random tools, tons of zipties, knife, leatherman, and other stuff i carry day to day.

Well my 8 pounds is a little light compared to some of ya but I know I have enough stuff to stay the night because I had to do it last year. All my riding buddy carry about the same stuff so we seem to have more than enough wich came in handy.
