depends on several factors, most of which are caused by polaris over building sleds and then dealers slashing prices to dump inventory which then kills the used market. Add a model year change into the picture and its gonna cost you a bunch to trade up 1 year. I know guys that traded 15's for 16's and were paying in the 6,000+ range.

Right now they have new Axys's down around 10,000 so that means a used one in great condition with some extras is only worth 8-9,000 so trade in at the dealer will be 7-8,000 and a 17 is going to be in the 12-13,000 range depending on what you want. So I would say your doing good if you can trade for 4,000 but I bet its going to be closer to 5,000.00 Pretty damn sad. Eric

Your better off trading every 2 to 3 years, as it will start to equalize around the second and third year. At least around here is what it seems to do. After the three year mark, then they seem to take another hit for a couple years.

For example, I just traded a 14 Pro for a 17 Axys, with 6250.00 difference.

How many miles were on your 14? I'm trading a 15 on a 17 and a 12 600 on another 17

You're lucky if a dealer will even take a trade. Seems most dealers around here won't take a trade no matter what it is. Last time I looked at a popular local website it had over 1,200 used sled listed for sale...

My sno checks were costing me 1500 to 2000 per year until last year. To trade the 14 Pro to the Axys was 5700 difference....sucked.

After 5 sno checks they've over priced these new sleds beyond what I'm willing to pay. I plan to ride mine 2 or three seasons, then find a used one with the extended warranty...cut the dealer out and that huge first season depreciation.

My 1234 mile '14 Pro was worth $6k on trade back in November. Difference was easy $6000. No discounts on '16s at the time.

I had trouble finding a dealer to take a trade as well. Most dealers around me will not touch them. GV in Junction took mine and had it sold in under a month. Bringing in a clean, desirable trade helped sell it. Some of the used sleds I see at dealers baffle me, ancient garbage...

My deals in previous years were more like $2500-3000 difference. I will probably ride the '16 two years and look for a holdover '17 when the '18s come out. Hold overs work better for me and they are thousands cheaper. I am glad I made the leap this year because the Axys is AWESOME, money well spent.

I do not think it makes sense to keep one 3 years for me riding 1200-1500 miles a season. A three year old mtn sled with 4500 miles doesn't have any value left. Hopefully the 16 with 2500 miles and left over warranty will fetch a decent buyer when the time comes...

Seems like a 2 year plan works out better. You can ride an entire 2nd year for $1000-1500 more and sell with a year or two of warranty left.
