How many damn times does the president have to tell us that our economy is the worst it has been since The Great Depression or since WW2 or in the last 40 or 50 years( which is it anyway ) ? No chit Dick Tracy ! I will be 70 1 month from today and I remember a lot of recessions that were a lot worse than this one. I graduated in 1957 and if you wanted a factory job you had better be first in line when some guy in the shop dropped over. If you wanted a union job your father had to have been a life time member and been dead no longer than 12 hours. The presidents ( and we had some dip chits ) didn't go around preaching doom and gloom ( Other than Jimmy Carter ) , they told the country how good we were and would be again and to buck up and not to worry and every thing would be alright soon. Well here is this president preaching the worst kind of gloom and it is depressing the stock market and every thing else in the economy. It really seems to me that a terrible economy really suits his purposes. He gets to spend more of other peoples money this way. I have worked heavy and highway construction for over 50 years and I never heard "shovel ready" before in my life. His chief of staff has said that a good crisis is the best time to get things passed in congress that normally would not pass. I hate to say I told you so but I did.

He is just running around trying to gain support for the his bill. Ignore the fact that there is a substantial amount of useless garbage still inside this package. People in this county dont want this bill passed and he is still pressing on WHY????

The actual facts are, this ISN"T the worst recession since the great depression. If the media would report the facts everyone would know that.

The 70's and early 80's were a lot worse than this.

As for the fear mongering, of cource he is.
The more fear he can generate, the more people will be so scared they will demand he take away their rights and their money and do what ever he wants with it.
The sad part is.
It will work.

Did you know that not ONE senater or congressman has actually read the stimulus bill?
They have NO IDEA what is in it.

Yep!!!!!!!!!!! Look at the Carter era. Interest rates on homes 15%-20%. Unemployment over 10%. Did not hear all the doom and gloom then. We just put our heads down and made the best of it.

Our society has gotten fat and lazy. Too many "get rich quick" schemes and not enough hard work.

Oh well, I am off my soap box now. LOL
