How many ride mostly trails with the RMK?

I don't really ride trails but ride alot of hard snow. I do make it out to the mountains a few times where we ride NO trails.

I have about 200 miles of trail riding on my '09 D8 155". But that is just to scratch the itch between trips out west.

I dont ride an rmk but i ride a 900 switchback. i ride about 95% trails. i have about 2400 miles on. i get off trail as much as i can but around here its a little hard. i want to get out to the mountains sometime but money is an issue. lol.:beer;

I ride the trail only as long as I have to... I'd rather spend 2 hours fooling around getting to a sweet spot than buzzing up the trail and being there in 30 minutes.

Anyone have trouble with them running hot down the trails?

That's why a trail rider had a good day with 200 miles and a good day for off trail riders is 50 miles.

... and it took longer for the off trail guy to get in 50 miles than the trail rider with 200.

yep. all kinds of problems. i saw the water temp get up to as high as 212 degrees. the timing gets retarded and i had to stop and pile the snow on the heat exchanger. hoping that all the vents im putting on this year will help. thinking about mayber removing the restrictor that i put in the hose for the radiator delete and slp airbox. going to a different airbox this year as well. heard the slp airbox is not very good. probably a timbersled.:D

Gross..I hate the trails, I wold rather be in the trees or in a meadow then riding on a trail.

yeah like i said. i would love to get out in the open or in the mountains but around here in wisconsin people arent too happy when u tool around on their land if u dont have ur own. lol. kinda sucks

We ride mostly open fields, meadows, lakes + hills in central. Saskatchewan with our 900s. Hate the trails due to the cooling problems with these machines.

07 RMK600 here. Living in Wisconsin I get my deep snow fix in the U.P. of Michigan. To get to the good spots we have to ride trails. Down here in Wisconsin I have spent the entire day trail riding on my RMK. I think the most I have put on in one day down here is 150 or so. I have NEVER overheated. I drop the scratchers and go, so does my brother on his 08 M8. I would say that out of the 5200 miles that are on my sled, 1000 of them are true trail miles. 95 percent of my riding is boondocking/deep snow riding in the yoop, but, if we get enough snow here at home, I'm going to ride!

Definetly have it easy,Mtns. in back yard,don't have heating issues,scratchers and rad delete when on trail,But get ahold of skiwhiz he's a trail rider deluxe:eek::eek::eek::eek::present::present:LOL

I have the slp air box I like it, the timbersled I here is the worst, just air vent that go over the throttle bodys and the fire-n-ice is the best. Im going to add the coolers that go under the floor boards, like they did on the older sleds, this should help to keep it cooler? I also added one under the tunnel .no more snow build up under there anymore,I have all the air vents you can add ,and Ice scratcher too but when I have to run into town down the side roads to get gas, It will run hot like 198degs. and it melted my boots.at 200 degrees it will shut down, so I hoping by adding the under board cooler will keep it 20 degrees cooler. I will be a happy camper then.other wise I love the power of the 900 and the long track.I ride off trail some but mostly trails as we have a lot of them here.

The problem with the slp intake is the front end of the sled gets clogged with snow and doesnt allow any cold air to get to the throttle bodies so it starts suckin the warm air from the engine and warm air is lost power. Im installing the 09 body kit so the slp intake wont work for me anymore anyway but if i were u i would get rid of the slp.
The coolers under the floor boards were eliminated because they tend to get ripped off if u hit anything. just a heads up.
If u put the coolant restrictor in the line by the bottle when u installed the slp intake, i think it may help to remove that or bore a bigger hole to allow for more coolant transfer. not sure yet but im gonna try it on mine.
I hear u with the trails! thats all thats really around here. i get off the trail as much as i can but it never seems to be enough. when i ride off trail i have no problems but i get on that packed surface and it doesnt cool hardly at all unless im full throttle.
I love the 900 as well and i will never go back to a short track.:D:beer;
