How many people have hit a tree this season?

I hit a tree at least once a ride, its just how i do things, broke my stock plastic bumper, made one out of 1/8" angle iron, no im running 3/8 rod because i toasted the angle iron when i ghost rode the thing into a foot thick pine on a steep hill. busted hood, busted bumpers X2 and a few dents in the pipe, OH and a shattered nun. ripped my hood off once climbing through some 4 foot tall elkweed, it was thicker than i thought, but i got the highmark.

Found a small tree yesterday as I figured out a path to get to a buddy who needed help getting unstuck. Was slowing down when I hit it, didn't bend up anything on the sled, but the skiis flipped to the right and the handlebar found my groin. Nifty.

Got the sled all back together, $171 total for Bumper, Pan Brace, and a few bolts.

Getting back on the Mountain $ PRICELESS :face-icon-small-ton

Let's see, I remember on the P-dub ride in the snowies last year I was going up a hill at high speed and cut a 6' pine off with my bumper. It flew over the hood and knocked me off the sled.

Hit a small one with a phazer in Cooke a couple of weekends ago. Caught one ski and barrel-rolled the sled on top of me.

Come to think of it, I've never damaged anything hitting a tree, but I don't like to hit them, much less the big ones you guys have smoked!:face-icon-small-ton

This was more like a bush than a tree.

I gotta John Deere spitfire with a 440 in it that claimed a good sized pine. That folded right up. Coyote got away

Reading some of these helps ease the pain, however I would' nt condemn anyone for hitting a tree. I was out at Revy - Frisby Ridge before Christmas. Visability was not the best. We were taking stabs at this one hill. Coming down I tagged a 12" tree stump covered by snow. A hidden land mind! Needless to say I came to an abrupt stop, launched over the handle bars, did a 360 in the air, and then landed gracefully in the powder. I layed there for a few seconds, heard laughter, which actually made me feel better and then picked myself up to assess any damage - perfect - none to the machine. Myself? - bruised ego and a sore thumb - not bad eh! Freakin' funny - they said I looked like Kermit the frog! :p

took a land mine today myself, not evan a hump in the snow but i bent the hell out of my lower radius,,,, after last year totaling out the right side twice it must be time for the left side this year, i normally dont hit the trees, but its the damn stumps that get my butt sailing through the air this is the 3rd one this year allready but the first one with any damage

Sawed four down on the last ride (Crowsnest). I use my saw a lot more than the shovel; have yet to damage anything except a few paint chips on the a-arms.

If we keep riding the same bowl we should have it clear cut in 5 year!

The other day I was out with the RMK himarking on a smallish hill, just playing around, but it's covered shrubs and small trees, like 1-2" diameter... I was mowing them down like I was clear cut logging :P No damage to the sled....

Here's a couple of pics now that I got them done, not too bad, all things considered...

But its all fixed up and already been taken out for a ride:D

First time for me was this year. After spending about an hour and a half helping my buddy unstick his nytro, seven....yes seven times, I had about 20 or so yards to ride to the road where we were going to eat lunch.

Was hot, tired, decided there was only one tree.....no where close to where i was headed.....so I left my goggles hanging. Got tossed off course by another buddy's track and headed straight for the tree.

Didn't want to stop, because I new I would get stuck in the deep powder, so I just yanked the sled over and got on the throttle.....enough for the sled to go under the tree and come out untouched......but i took a branch to the face right where the goggles should have been. Messed up my nose pretty good, and cut up my face under my eyes......an 1/8" of an inch up and I would be riding with a white cane for sure.

Needless to say, lessoned learned here was NEVER, ride without your goggles.

Hellz ya!! Hit one last week riding my uncles old dragon. He told me to ride it like i own it.:D Tore off the bumper and the belly pan is gone, and put a nice dent in the pipe. Good thing it wasnt his new one. haha

haven't hit one in a few years, been over the top of quite a few! they do a # on the front end though, had to put a new y pipe, pipe, nose and hood on one before. still riding without the front bumber 5 yrs later! :beer; As long as no one is hurt, fix the sled and go again! Hope the tree huggers aren't reading these!
