How many deaths this week????

This is crazy! I dont get why so many so fast. I dont remember it ever being this bad!!

If you don't understand why the snow is sliding so much and so often right now, you NEED to go take an avalanche course before you become the next one we are reading about.

One is too many. I can't ever remember such a bad week. I hope everyone understands this year the snowpack is the worst it has been in many years.

I love the hills, think I will work on my carving skills in the meadows this year!

I haven't got west yet, but it's obvious that the snowfall pattern has led to these dangerous conditions. If you don't subscribe to the FREE e-mail of your area Avalanche Advisories, you should get informed and do it NOW!!

YOU OWE IT TO YOUR LOVED ONES!!

Get informed and survive.

I'm looking at heading west in the next week or two and taking my 13+ yr. old son with, I'm nervous as hell about it, but there is a lot of great boondockin' and meadow carving to be had that will make it a memorable time and give them something to remember. You don't have to climb the highest chute or get the highest hi-mark to have a good ride.

Give it some time, it may be a late spring. Hope so.:beer;:)

I asked the same. I live in MountlakeTerrace, WA and had nearly 2 feet of snow. It hit hard and fast in the PNW. I used my sledding avy shovel to save a car and a UPS truck. I can't fathom what the mountains were like.

Please be safe!!!!

we're at 14 deaths in the last 8 days when you combine the US and Canada (avy deaths).

unbelievable.

jeff

hey Jeff, US and canada combined in the past 2 weeks stands at 18 now.

it's unreal but also could be worse based on the condition of the base snow pack in the entire west. :( I dread the news every day now and pray at night for no more losses. This eats us up here in Utah. Every loss feels personal in a way.
