How long will a belt last after it starts throwing threads???

The belt on my XP is finally showing some thread wear. I've got about 600 ( lots of powder days!!!) miles on it. From what I've been reading I think that's some sort of record. So my question is how much longer will it last or is it just a guessing game. Can you still get a lot more miles out of her, or is it once a thread comes out your about done??? I have two spares and am heading to Cooke in Two days..

my first belt i got about 130 miles on..... changed to new belt when i was in cooke and stated pulling cords in about 15 miles but was riding very hard in deep powder. I pulled about a 1 1/2 cord out of the belt that day... then i finally got my xp 154 geared down to a 19 tooth and i got another 170 miles out of that belt. I would just check it very often and if there was cord coming out i would just cut it off and ride. It finally had enough in the 4 foot of powder we were riding in in West yellowstone last weekend. I thought that was pretty good since the belt was screwed anyways. I changed to a new belt and had no problems at all. 600 miles is pretty good on one belt.

cut the thread and burn the end..i've seen them go 500 miles+
Yea......I did that plus cleaned the clutches and belt. Also I read in one of your posts you had your clutches alined, are they doing that by ajusting the motor mount ????

i'd take it to the dealer''its a pain in the a$$ :eek:from what i see--and it needs to be exact to work the best--our dealer did ours under warranty:D

I second that, then when you think it's all over and you have to break out the freshie, burn it again, flip it around and ride some more. I'm got a belt on my 07 Doo from last season that just won't quit, 800+ hard miles and counting. 300 since the flip.
