On a normal year how early is there ridable snow in Colorado. I have to come down that way for a wedding this fall.

Thanks

The past couple years we have ridden on Vail Pass in October. I can't remember the dates very well. There was enough to ride the roads and get off the trail a bit, but you have to look out for the stumps and rocks. Usually by November, you can go anywhere, but you still have to look out for the big stuff. Some years we don't have anything in October.

First ride this season was 15Nov08, kind of late.

Usually mid-late october there's *something* to ride.

I don't even bother until December. I'm not a fan of wrapping a 12,000 dollar sled around a rock or stump. This was a bad season for me and I just popped over a 1000 miles this year.

Well I found out the wedding is in vail, the weekend of Sept 26, so that might be a little early. Maybe it will be an early winter. It would be fun to do some early riding even if it is just roads if it snows early, since I'll be driving my truck down anyways a trailer wouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for the info guys.

Don't bother bringing your sled out in Sept. Bring a 4X4 truck or dirtbike you will get around just fine with that. Normally first ride is Thanksgiving or later.

dont' listen to hammertime........he gives up sledding for waterskiing in March! brrrrrrrr.........crazy man...

personal early record ride was '06 sept 24 at RE. The 14" of snow last 1 day, 24hrs later is was gone.

Over here we shoot for a road ride on halloween, but we dont leave the trails till turkey day.

Sept riding?

Powderpatrol you may want to reread his trip plans. He is not coming out for the road ride in Oct he said September. :D:D:D It would suck to drag the trailer all the way from ND in September to go sledding with no snow. Just trying to help a guy out. And yes I DO start boating in March, Let's see hang out with hot babes in bikini's or go sledding hmmmm...see ya next December boyz!:p:p

More pics of bikini's please:D Bikini's over dry-suits this time of year? No lake and ski boat out the back door...6 more weeks of riding for me:beer;;)
