How do you set chain tension on an 1 800?

I see the chain tensioner has a spring that puts a load on the chain. How do you go about setting the chain tension? Most all chains that I know of are finger tight, and 1/2 turn off. How does that work with this spring loaded tensioner? How do you know if the spring is sacked out and if it is doing it's job right?

New chain and gears, and just trying to find out how to put the proper tension on the chain. 01 skidoo 800. Running a 166 2 1/2" paddle track.

I have 01 summit w/153" powerclaw and I've always done the same tight by hand and back off to pin! 4500mi on chain and gears still all original and going strong! don't change what works amsoil severe gear in chain case from day one!

Yep, finger tight and back off 1/2-1 turn, should be able to push the adjuster bolt in just a little bit. I don't think the tension of that spring is critical, just eliminates the slack.
