How do you like your Megacab??

I just called on an 07 with 4500 miles, it has the 6.7. $39K.!! They've had it for about 2 months now, you'd think they'd be willing to deal a little on that. The azzclown salesman didn't even know what motor or tranny it had, he had to walk out and look and call me back (I think that's their fancy way of getting your phone #), then after he called back I asked what warranty was left on it and he couldn't tell me. Nice truck.... but he's making it awful hard for me to drive 100 miles to check it out.

to answer your question yes that is there way of getting your name and number they will probably call you back in a day or 2 too gotta love the car dealers:)

go to competition diesel website and get a dpf kit for the 6.7l, i guess with that and add on's they get great power and way better mileage, but after the last fiasco with the dodge auto tranny i had i'll stick with six speeds, personally i have nothin but gmc's but i am looking into a 4500 cab chassis, they are trying to talk me into auto tranny and i told them not if i'm buying it, with 14,400 lbs on it everyday it wouldn't last long in my business

i have an 07 5.9 with an edge tow chip in it that i run mostly in the econ mode...it has a 41/2 in lift with 35' tires (goodyear extremes, 11' wide)...gets 21-22 on the hiway empty @ 65 mph, around town/short drives it gets16-17 if i don't happy with the gas pedal....love the truck, very stable platform for towing....lots of room, parking garages are a no-no, rarely a problem for me....good friend had a new duramax, he hated it, but as luck (?) would have it, he got in a wreck and totalled it...now he drives his 3 year old 5.9 and says the wreck was the best thing that could have happened

it's an allison it's made for heavy trucks. most new 80,000 gvw dump trucks have an allison in them also. do some research on them.

The New Trany is a GREAT unit. Don't be scared.

.

LOL thx. Its fast enough for me. It'll run 12s on fuel and never blow up

Are you going I mod yours Josh?

someday.... First it'll get Smarty, then from there, who knows. Don has a couple 6.7's over 1000 already, but they keep blowing up when they get there. lol. I haven't heard anything about aftermarket tranny parts for the 68RFE other than Browns Valley having a t/c that is more efficient. DTT doesn't really have anything yet. Looking at Ultimate Trans in Idaho, but doubt they'll have anything for it for a while.

The auto tranny in the cab and chassis is built by Aisin. They are a japanese company majority owned by Toyota and build most of the Toyota transmissions and have been building medium duty trannys for yrs. In Canada the Aisin tranny has a 3 yr 290000 km warranty and so far have been bullet proof. Climb under a cab and chassis and check out how huge this tranny really is. We just took my wifes 08 3500 on a trip and averaged almost 22 mpg. The first tank I got 970 kms, so almost 600 miles. It is bone stock except for 285 rubber.

I drove Allen Cook's CR with a set of Nathan's twins and Flux4s. Sucker was scary fast. 11.8s up here and squirlly as hell in 2wd rolling on at 65mph. I need twins lol.

last i heard of aisin they built carbs for like weed wackers, the other factor i have to worry about on the dodge cab chassis is brakes, currently i use the gears to slow down, if i use the engine braking feature on the auto the tranny shifts down to slow down, know you are shock loading the clutches, not condusive to longevity, the gm boys wanted me to get an allison when i special ordered my 6 spd in my 03, i like my gearing i put in it, i am currently researching orque and hp curves of the new 6.7 with and without the dpf

I like the dodge mega cabs that I have owned. Lots of room, good power and handles a big heavy trailer nice.

I have towed with the Auto and the 6 spd G56. The auto is the hands down winner in acceleration and braking. The auto tranny will downshift way faster than you could with the manual. I have had a 5500 loaded to almost 40000 lbs with the load on truck and trailer( I know that is way overloaded) and it handled it no problem. Nice thing about the auto is anyone can drive it. Ever try gearing down a manual and dumping the clutch with 30000 plus pounds? Makes a bad sound huh? lol With the auto tranny, you don't lose pressure to the exhaust brake, so there is no recovery time on the down shift. The transmission also locks converter in every gear except 1st.
I say drive what you like, but the auto works much better in these trucks than the manual. Plus the manual tranny has a slow final drive which may hurt fuel economy slightly. I have the DPF delete on my 08 Mega cab. They are definately worth the money.
