How do you like your Megacab??

Looking at getting a different pickup and from what I've been "hearing" the Dodge's are getting about the best mileage out there, and we all know that's a big concern these days and since I'll be on the road with it a lot it's very important. These appear to be holding their value quite well also, 06-07's are still in the late 20's and even a few in the early 30's.

I'll be giving up a 00 Powerstroke 7.3 Crew cab, really like the ol' gal but I think it's time for something a little newer. Going to be hard to give up that 7.3, been real good to me and get's decent mileage if I can keep my foot out of it and with a chip and exhaust.... that's hard to do.

So, those of you that have or have had.... let's hear it.

I have an 07 with the 5.9 and see 16 in town and 20 on the freeway at 65 or less with Edge Juice and Attitude. I have an 02 PS F 350 with Bully Dog 6 bank and see about the same. To be honest I put more miles on the Ford than the Dodge and tried to sell or trade it in on a car but they aren't worth cr@p right now. I traded the PS in on the Dodge and bought it back from the dealer within a week

Sounds like your in about the same situation I am. I'm looking at a mega cab also might go get one tomorrow and I'll tell you what its the time to buy with fuel prices and a soft economy you can get a wicked good deal especially from a dealer.

love my Mega. Have an early 07.5 with the 6.7L/68RFE Auto. The auto tranny is awesome, especially combined with the exhaust brake.

Mileage leaves a lot to be desired, averaging 13.998 mpg for the first year/12,000 miles I put on her. But, there are ways to improve it dramatically if you want to get rid of your warranty...I don't just yet.

My roommate drives an '06 5.9L mega and loves it. My best friend has an '06 5.9L that is turned up and it's a nice ride...they both get in the high teens for mileage.

Really like the '07 5.9, 6sp I just got. Mileage is decent, about 18hwy/14hwy with ski boat, at 80-85 mph. 90 hp tune. Sure it would be better if I slowed down.
Drives more like a truck than my '02 DMax, not harsh, but will drive a little better than an older Super duty.
Overall, a very BIG, solid badass truck.
I'd love the new 68RFE, but very happy with the 5.9/G56 combo and it's fuel mileage, since it's only got 14k mi on it. Should still get a little better!

Went to the g/f's parents' last night for dinner. I guess after our first date her dad asked her "so, does he have a nice pickup?" She said yes. He said "nicer than mine?" (he drives an ~'03 Chevy 8.1L, 4" lift, etc, etc). She said "yes." I guess he took it personally. :) Last night he said "give me your keys, I gotta see this thing." After he checked it all out and sat in the back seat, then laid them down and realized you can sleep back there COMFORTABLY, he told his wife "we're going to the Dodge dealer tomorrow." LOL

Buddies '06 Mega 5.9L, 4" Lift, 35" Toyo's....burried. All the power in the world doesn't help in the sand. :)

I just called on an 07 with 4500 miles, it has the 6.7. $39K.!! They've had it for about 2 months now, you'd think they'd be willing to deal a little on that. The azzclown salesman didn't even know what motor or tranny it had, he had to walk out and look and call me back (I think that's their fancy way of getting your phone #), then after he called back I asked what warranty was left on it and he couldn't tell me. Nice truck.... but he's making it awful hard for me to drive 100 miles to check it out.

$39k is WAAAYYYYYYYYY outta line for an '07 with the 6.7L. Another friend bought one a month ago, SLT but with Infinity system (only good for the steering wheel controls), had 12k on the clock and he paid $30k for it. Private party.

I think Dave Smith is selling Laramie '08 Mega's for about $35k brand new right now.

Kellogg, Idaho. Largest Dodge dealer in the world. Dave Smith Motors. Most other dealerships can match their price on brand new vehicles nowadays, but they have just about the largest selection out there.

I can't make up my mind on the Dodge Mega, Chevy or Ford 6.4L want something 05 and newer with 10-40k for miles and warranty till 70 or 100

The 7.3 has been great!!! gets a honest 20MPG doing 75-77 on the last road trip. I would like the same and have the warranty still as our dealer let the small chip we have slide as there is no option for big HP.

The Ford 6.4 is sweet just gets real crapy millage or I thought it did not sure if that can be fixed though?? Is the Mega any better when it comes to dealers and warranty with good millage chip???

Mines sitting in the driveway with a broke G56 transmission.... ***gin pile!

Buy an auto, spend the three grand and have a great transmission. My 05' with an auto gets 19 on average, this pile gets 14 on average dry. It'll pull like a motha, and does, until it broke. Now were staring down the barrell of another 4 grand just to get it back, with no go fast parts included.

Other than that, all the guys like it that ride with me. Lots of leg room and really comfortable on long hauls.

Don't even need to spend the $$$ to upgrade the auto with the 68RFE. I haven't heard or read of one single failure at STOCK power levels. Haven't tested the waters to see how much she'll take though.

the 6.4, 6.7, and lmm 6.6 all have dpfs.they will all get low mileage. You would really be better off with a late 07 that has a 5.9 in it.I have no idea on boxes or programmers for the chevys and fords, but a smarty on a dodge doesn't get much better.60 hp levels on a stock truck with easy driving will get you close to 20 mpg.with an intake and exhaust you should be right at 20 mpg.
