how do you get your grips to stay on?

how does everyone get their grips to stay on? I use spray adhesive and they hold tight but after I ride a bit with the heaters on they start slipping. paint hasnt worked for me either. Does anyone else have this problem? what do you use to solve it?

I have the same prob, I usually kick off the heat, or to low, when climbing or playing hard in the powder and that seems to help, over to high when I not using them as hard. Not an answer, but helps, would like to hear a better solution though.

I had the same problem and posted a question about it a few weeks ago.

The suggestion was 3M Spray 77

I cleaned off my bars with carb cleaner and let sit for about an hour.

Sprayed some 77 into the grips and on the bars, then slid them on.

The bars need to be warm for the glue to cure, so MAKE SURE THEY ARE WARM.

Let it set up overnight, and they are on there VERY tight, do not move at all.

I hope this is the answer..........

Try pissing on your bars before you put the grip on.

Slick as snot going on and when your piss dry's it is like glue!

Seen a buddy do this.;):beer;

its called grip glue, but are you serious or did you just need somebody to talk to?

I used a syringe and super glue...Much easier IMo because you can use soap to slide the sumbiches into place let it dry a day then bam shoot a few spots of SG and your good to go.

thanks I wound up using two part epoxy. we will see. I will also use safety wire thanbks for the tip tomMTX!

masneri, the grip glue sucks I tear the grips of almost every time I ride, it doesnt hold up when the heaters are on.

well it sounds weird but i used j-b weld. works awsome! kinda worried about when i have to change them! LOL!!!:beer;:beer;

Grip glue from motorcyle dealer and at least one wrap of safety wire up where your thumb rests.

If you have been trying to glue it down, you need to get all that junk old stuff off of there, even use a dremel if it is all hard and crusty.

LMAO... Grip Glue is for Gold Wings :D
You can't ride them hard lol

Biggest thing is to make sure the handlebar is CLEAN
Also clean the inside of the grip with soap and warm water. Lot of times grips have a coating to make the rubber have longer shelf life. That stuff will not adhease to anything.

I have good luck with the process above, spray the grips with carb cleaner inside a few times, hit them one more time to install streatching the grip with compressed air, slipping them on and bake them on with a hair drier.

It isn't that hard to remove them when JB'd on. Cut the grip off taking easy not to hurt stick on grip wrap heaters. The JB flakes off once the grip is removed

You should check out the RSI Racing gel grips. They are really easy to put on and they are really grippy! Only like $20 for a pair. You won't have to mess with any of that messy glue.

Poop works even better! ...just make sure you're wearing gloves.
