How do you get the belt off?

Somewhere between too dumb to quit and flat earth
I have a 05 polaris race sled with a 800 VES stuffed in there. It is virtually impossible to get the belt off because there is no room.

What’s your guy's trick for getting a tight belt off of a sled? Are there any tools out there? I have never owned a sled that was this hard to get the belt off.

team secondary??? got the tool? should open secondary, might have to put a little force on the panel by the primary to get it by there, its a pain but can be done, the panels give a little!

Agree with the above. The tool should be in your factory tool kit. It looks like an L shaped screw. Thread on end in the vacant hole near the bolt that holds your secondary on. Thread it in until the two sheaves open up to the max and the belt comes right off....

my tool doesn't work anymore i have just pulled up and back on the belt so the secondary turns a little this will ride the belt up slightly on the secondary. start pulling it off to the side of the secondary then turn the secondary it's self backwards untill it's off.

may have sounded really confusing but it can work.

MAKE SURE SLED IS TURNED OFF

haha, yes... step 1, stop engine...

Srsly though, screw in the L-tool, pull belt off... hardest part I have is getting it between the fender and primary. There's a little cutout where the side panel hooks into, belt likes to get caught on that.

I don't have a tool kit. In fact that is one of the things i am looking for, is there anyone out there that makes a complete tool kit? I seen the L shaped thing on WPS so i guess i will order one of those.

I have gotten used belts off of it before but i just dropped a new one on and its not work'n!

I haven't had a tight access sled in those terms but when the belt is warm it's a lot easier due to the flexibility of the belt.

Simply pull up on it which should seperate the driven clutch enough to get it off and then when it's warm it's a bit easier to twist it out of the tight spot due to it being turned on it's side for lack of a better explanation. Getting the new belt on that is cold, well that is tough and a nuckle buster in the firgid temps. Maybe notch out a bit of plastic in an area that will allow the belt to fit but not enough to be visible from the outside?

Own stop in Cooke and i bet the Polaris guys up there have that little tool we are talking about for sure I bet it's not over $8 at the most. Makes the belt a breeze to take off.

Is there a reason you just can thread in a bolt...maybe a socket hd cap screw so you just have to put a small allen wrench in the tool kit. I don't know...you might have to grind the thread off on the tip and round it....I guess I am a cheap skate...bent ready rod?

1/4 bolt

get a 1/4 bolt with threads all the way up and it works just like the tool but you can use a 7/16 socket and a ratchet.

I used the bolt but went to the work of grinding the end to match the tool, I didn't realize that I could just use the bolt.

Don't have a clutch bolt lol. I got the belt off the old fashioned way but its a pain in the ARS.

I will go take a few pics of my sled just so you guys can see what im deal'n with.

I was talking to hudini and he's got a 910 in his IQR and says the clearance between the primary and the belly pan is one tight sob, even if you have the tool to open the secondary its tough to get the belt past the belly pan and the primary clutch sheave.< is this what you are referring to.
