My cousin just purchased a set of rails for his 01 MC. The guy said they were 151 rails and extensions for a 162. Since he doesnt have a track yet and wants to make sure he gets the right track, how do you tell what size track he needs with and w/out the extensions? what measurements should we be looking for?

If they are stock Arctic Cat rails they should have a part number stamped in them. You can look that up at Brown's Leisure World or Country Cat online parts books and get a cross reference to what they will fit.

Great info.. found the part # and verified they are in fact 151 rails.. Now my question is how do I verify these are extensions to a 162? Anyone know this?

well since the rails are 151's and they are supposed to fit a 162 that means they should be 1/2 of the difference (162 -151=11 inches) which means they should be about 5 and a 1/2 inches longer..are the extensions that long?

would I measure end of adjustment slot from rail to end of adjustment slot on the extension when they are installed?

I didnt measure myself, but was told it is a difference of 4.5 inches..

close enough..you need a 162-163 track..any slop should be taken up with your wheel adjustment..if it isnt..you can get a big wheel kit or slide the skid back a bit in the tunnel..but it will fit...

Thanks for the info.. Next question would be does it need a tunnel extension going from the 144 to the 151?? I know it would for the 162, but if only the 151 was used would the tunnel need the extension of could the stock tunnel be ran?

I dont know...cats arnt my normal..most likely it would work..but it might grab the mudflap and suck it under once in a while...you can go to any sheetmetal /steel supplier and get a peice of aluminum cut and bent for cheap..just use posterboard to make a pattern of what you want(pattern has to fit good),,then just install it while doing the skid...

I just threw a 151 track under my 144 mtn cat and didn't bother to extend the tunnel. On the first ride the flap did get sucked into the tunnel a couple times so I pinned the flap back with a piece of nylon strap. Can post a pic later if you want.
