How can you tell when you Walker Evans need recharging?

Just got a 700 RMK Dragon, really don't know how to tell what kind of condition my stock Walker Evans shocks are in. The rear seems to sag quite a bit and doesn't take much force to force it to push it down. I hear though that this can change for the better after about 5 min of riding (supposedly the suspension stiffens up on its own?). Is there anyway to actually tell if you need a recharge them or not?

Reminds me of a joke..

How do you tell if a politician is lying.....
His lips are moving!!

The WE Air shocks on the two front skis and Center shock should be serviced every 1000 miles IMO...
Also the rear track shock... take the IFP pressure up to 210lbs as well.

Service includes change clean, change oil, inspect all parts, repairs if necessary and recharge with 225lbs of nitrogen.

They should be recharged every season, IMO, Regardless of if they have been serviced... there is no way to check the pressure alone... a recharge is quick and easy by anyone that does this service.

If you have a soft skid... have them serviced, including the rear track shock.

For the Average mountain rider the WE Air shocks are sufficient... but they do need maintenance to perform.

Also, I Highly recommend the Skinz Protective Gear WE air neoprene shock boots to protect the shafts... they nick VERY easily and are suceptible to damage. The front-track shock already has a boot.

If you are removing the shocks from the sled... wrap the shafts with foam pipe insulation or rags/tape... just bumping into the a-arms on removal can nick the shafts.

If you have 2007/08 WE airs... I would recommend sending them into Walker Evans Racing or Fastrax for updates to the 2009 Valving specifications for a bump in performance.

Thanks for the info MH. From reading other posts I can see that you can send your shocks in to Walker Evan, Carls, and FTX Motorsports. They all seem to perform the same service on the shocks, any idea who offers the best pricing for this situation?

I sent mine to fastraxx and I was VERY happy with the outcome, they performed WAY better than the stock ryde FX that was on there. This fall I am going to try the fabcraft chambers on mine just to see if I like them or not, all else fails they go directly back to fastraxx, won't even let my poo dealer touch them.

i have a local suspension guy that does mine... charges $35 to do both shocks... had it done twice last year through about 3000 miles and it made all the difference in the world.... i kind of liked them flat for deep pow riding though it seemed easier to downhill boondock

Does the rear track shock offer any dampning on rebound? I just purchased a used sled with these shocks, I like the fronts but every bump I hit the backend comes slamming back up so hard it almost shoots you over the bars, even on small bumps it always comes up against the stops real hard, I can't believe this is normal, shocks were recarged last year, don't know how many miles though, less than 500 probably. Any advice?

I just sent mine to Walker Evans and the charge is $55 per shock. The bad news is the USPS fawked up my box and lost the two fronts. So now with 2 feet of powder on the hill and all I can do is stare at my sled laying on the shop floor waiting for the postal gods to grace me with a response to my insurance claim.

where rear scissor assy bolts to the skid drill new holes 1" back bolt back in place will will this help with the sag and make the rear suspension overall a little stiffer????????
