How are those ETEC's running?

I agree 100% that E-Tecs will be the saviour of 2 strokes, but is there something wrong with the 800's? I keep reading how the 600 is better than the 800 with 40 extra hp and less weight in the same chassis. Dynos have the ETec at less than 115hp so how can they be better in the deep than the 155hp 800R.

That is funny:D

I have a 200 HO E-Tec and it has run FLAWLESS and sips the fuel and oil in comparision to the Yamaha I had.

The E-tec in outboards came out in 06 I beleive. When it comes out in the 800 sled--I will be all over it!!

I am going to meet up with gr8skidoo to try out that 600 for sure!

H20SKE...

I have had my share of evinrudes and I am sorry but Iknow if at least 50% of the etecs I have dealt with had had new power heads. Granted maybe I am talkin outta my azz but fishing BASS and FLW I have come across a few of these ticking time bombs. Sure they have power out the *** for their size but in reality they dont do so without great risk.

The 800's are awesome as far as power is concerned. I just sold my summit 800. If I am going to spend $10k on a new sled I want to be able to run it for 5k+ miles without needing a couple of top ends or a new motor every 2500 miles. I still have my old 99 summit 600 with 5k miles on it. I dont know of even 1 Summit 800 with 4k miles on the original motor.
Personaly I am willing to trade some hp for durability on my next sled.

rode my etec last week in 1-2' of pow pow and love it. Had good power (it feels more like 120+ hp comparing it with my last 700 that dynoed 128), used about 1/4 as much oil as my 800 does on the same type of ride and road all day 43 mi. breaking trail on 4.5 gal. of gas, so it's getting around 10 with my 240 lbs. flogging it all day. I don't have a problem with that at all. Fun sled.

It's great to hear of so few complaints or problems on a 1st year motor!

What do you like about it better than your 800? Do you just like the 146 better or is there something else about it?

I don't think it's the 146 I like better but just the way the sled feels. Everything so far is right out of the box and will keep it that way as it is the wifes sled to ride. The sled is lite and quick on the throttle, just plain feels good to ride. It sips oil and gas but haven't ridden it myself for a whole day to see what it actually does for fuel. My wife did ride it for 100 miles but I haven't topped off the tank to see how much fuel was used. I can tell you that it only used about an 1/8 of an inch of oil from the tank.

As far as riding in high elevations, I'm not sure you'll have much power left leaving it stock.

Any more opinions on the E-TEC 600 after a full season of riding? Have they still been running reliably? Still happy with the power?

My wife and I need new sleds next year and I'm narrowing it down to an E-TEC or the new Nytro SE, or one of each. We spend most of our time boondocking, getting the highmark isn't important. We've been looking for a clean sled (no 2-smoke stink), reverse, e-start, gas and go reliability, and easy responsive handling.

I'd love to hear your end of season opinions!

SSSSSooooooooo...... who has one set up with a turbo? I'm thinking that would be a BA sled, 154, even at an easy 200 hp, around 420 lbs, coooooooolllllll!

I thought it was somebody with the Boondocker Crew? EW was the first one to tell me about it and he has a TD8. He had nothing negative to say about it. He actually sounded impressed with the EtecT600...... Made it sound like a really fun and agile sled..... Not sure if they stretched it or not.... Sounded like most of their toy's have turbo's there..... I'm Jeallous!!!

I often ride with an 600 E-tech Summit X. It was fine for the first few rides, but since then its spent more time in dealer's shop then on the snow. Something in the fuel system is coming apart and plugging up the filter and the pickups. Dealer ruled out gas, and skidoo continues to do the work on warrenty. It will still run, but uses more oil then an 800r and has no power; clean the fuel system, and it will run great for 20-30miles before it acts up again.

Are you guys running these bone stock ? How does the E-Tec work with an aftermarket exhaust ? How many miles can you get on 1 tank of gas if you were to ride it pinned in 2'-3' of pow.
Im thinking about a 600E-Tec as my next sled.
I ride at 9500'-12000'+. Colorado .

Pinned they won't get any better milage than an 800, oil wil be 1/4 to 1/3 as much. With about 12,000KM on the 6 I have the only issue has been a bad DESS key. Fun to ride.
