How are those ETEC's running?

Now that we all have some snow, any updates on how are the ETEC 600's are running. Any issues with belts, recoils, etc. Have these things not be plagued with the same issues as the 800's?

Dealer says they were super impressed in the deep stuff. Gotta warm em up LOTS.. he has had 5 come back cold siezed with less than 5 miles on em.

Bet that has more to do with the small amount of oil that they try to use on the etecs. This was happening with the outboards when they came out as well. The fix....dealers turned the oilers up to 25:1....richer than the non etec motors! I hope I am wrong. On paper they sound like a great motor.

I have them for my tours. they start with 1/2 a pull every time, no stink, cheaper on gas and oil. I do have one that cuts out every once and a while, haven't had time to look at it yet might be the dess or a connection. Only have about 300mi on some of them yet so still early to tell. Manual says change plugs every 10,000 mi or 3 years

Should be the way to go for next seasons 800

I have an 800 154 for myself and just picked up a 146 600 etec for my wife and to be honest I'd rather ride her sled. The sled is an absolute blast to ride and is no slouch for a 600. Two thumbs up from me!!

It's great to hear of so few complaints or problems on a 1st year motor!

What do you like about it better than your 800? Do you just like the 146 better or is there something else about it?

This is not the first year Ski Doo put the 600 E-Tec in a sled.

Last year Ski Doo put this same motor in the TNT, some of those sleds had 2-3000 miles on them with no issues.

Also this technology has been around for at least 8 years or better in the Evinrude Outboard motors.

It may be the first year in the Summit, but far from a first year motor.

The sleds a blast to ride, I'm having a ball breaking in the wife's Summit X 154 :D

Sure, the technology has been around, but the 1st year in a Summit is what matters. So many little things can turn into problems that keep people from buying a sled (XP 800). It's awesome to hear all the positive comments which isn't always the case for its big brother. E-TEC's could be the technology that'll keep 2-strokes alive and I'm psyched they're off ot a good start.

Seems like the Dragons are in the same boat with their 700. Everyone loves it with few problems to report.

Are the smaller displacement, less horsepower sleds simply more reliable, or is it just that they sell less of them so we don't hear as much about them?

Come out and ride one!

We have a demo 600 ETEC and have ridden it a few times now and love it works great, starts easy, sounds cool, and does not smell!
If you want to ride it let me know!

I was at the dealer a few years back and was chatting with a friend of mine who happened to be the salesman. He suggested that we should all go back to riding 600's; No more turboed machines , 1000's ,800's etc. Just go back to the way things were at a more simpler time, less headaches and a lot of fun. I think he was on to something......;):beer;

Got my wife the 154, runs flawlessly. No recoil issues, there isn't one. E-Start no recoil, LOL. Uses about 1/2 the gas and about 1/4 the oil of my new 800. Clutching is close but needs a little massaging. Rides great, does very well in the deep. Plenty of power for HER, but she is under 130# in full gear.

...MAX

Love mine, runs very strong. I took it out the other day in a foot and half of fluff with two 800's, and I ended up breaking trail all day for them! And I weigh 240! Great sled so far, very nimble, great power for a 600 and sips the oil and gas.

When they get the outboards right maybe I will consider one in a sled....

That is funny:D

I have a 200 HO E-Tec and it has run FLAWLESS and sips the fuel and oil in comparision to the Yamaha I had.

The E-tec in outboards came out in 06 I beleive. When it comes out in the 800 sled--I will be all over it!!

I am going to meet up with gr8skidoo to try out that 600 for sure!

H20SKE...

Are you guys running these bone stock ? How does the E-Tec work with an aftermarket exhaust ? How many miles can you get on 1 tank of gas if you were to ride it pinned in 2'-3' of pow.
Im thinking about a 600E-Tec as my next sled.
I ride at 9500'-12000'+. Colorado .
