How are the 3" 155s?

Im thinking about going to a 3" track over the summer. Just curious how the factory 155 3" sleds are doing? wheelie too much? I would probabaly do the factory series 7 3" with a tki belt drive and a zboz kiss.

Also i did have a 3" on my pro and i liked it but had to shorten the limit strap to calm the ski lift. With how much the axys lifts maybe it will be too much?

Cant comment on the 3" 155 but I can say that im still trying to calm down my 2.6 155! Slowly making changes to the suspension to get the skis down without sacrificing trenching. Front end is in the air more than my 14 assault was! Its a blast but trying to climb outa technical stuff sometimes shes a hand full:face-icon-small-hap

3 inch and a skins arc and say nothing else wheelie when you want and plant the ski's in the steep technical when need the 3 inch is a beast

Running side by side and swapping sleds my buddies 155x2.6 outdoes my 155x3 in every snow conditions so far this year. Even on waist deep dry powder days.

It's not suspension setup,or clutching... you can feel the extra track speed the 2.6 carries.

The 3 can be a wheelie monster but with proper suspension setup it is totally controllable.

If I were to do it all over again I'd do the 2.6, & I will when it's time for a new track.

Interesting feedback from your experience. Can you elaborate as to why you're seeing better overall performance from the 2.6"?

Is you're snow fairly deep and very light powder?

There are days here where you step off your sled and you're up to your crotch in it. Perhaps the 3" is trenching more?

I ridden both and I would definitely choose the 3 inch over the 2.6, it just did everything better. Its geared lower which makes the clutching more efficient, easier on belts and the clutches run cooler. I thought that it made just as much track speed as the 2.6! The 3 inch did wheelie on me at the end of a climb because of all the traction that it was getting and the hill did get really steep! I'm sure that could have just been a suspension adjustment. There is a reason that these 3 inch wheelie, its traction and track speed. Pair the 155 3 inch with a 36 inch front and have one amazing sled, absolute game changer, I just can't say enough how impressed that I was with it and I know that it wasn't set up to its full potential :)

300 miles of wyoming powder.. been riding since December with both. Had several over the hood days and a few handlebar deep days.

I think the 2.6is better due to track speed whether it's from shorter lugs, belt drive, or combound... we (my whole group) feel the 2.6 does better swapping sleds same day same ; hill, creek, sidhill..everywhere

Both sleds are dialed as far as suspension set up and clutching. I've spent hours working on both

The 3 does trench a little more, but I think that's not the whole reason.

I wish I felt the 3 was better, & I wish it would stomp my buddies 2.6 sleds (cuz I talked a lot of trash this fall about smoking their little 2.6's)

The 2.6 vs 3 argument bears out the same on the 163s. I think the 2.6 works better in all snow conditions in that track length too. Nevertheless, you will have some preferring one and some the other. I might have pulled the trigger on the 3 if they had put the belt drive on it. I do not think the drive system aline is why the 2.6 seems to work better but I believe it is part of it. This argument will go on and on. I guess the good thing is that you have a choice from the factory instead of having to spend additional money to get what you want. I suspect more track and drive system options will be coming our way in the next year or two. Nothing wrong with choices...........unless you make the wrong one.

Your going to need Drivers cause they are a different pitch on the 3" and start all over again....

S/C

My sled has the 155 2.6 but I had the chance to ride the 3" the other day. I originally was thinking I should have gone to the 3" but after seeing it trench I wouldn't go to the 3". I'm now convinced the sled set up with the 2.6 and quick drive is the way to go. The question after this is 155 or 163?
