just wondering about the engine's?

i currently drive a 09 M8 and have had zero problem's and i like it that way but i love the look and review's of how these pro's work!

but don't like what i've seen and heard of the pro 800's for reliability.

i was talking to a mod shop recently at a sled show and they told me the polaris engine would be bullet proof this year.

this make's me interested!

any help would be great thanks!

Is this for real?

The 11 pro's had lotsa talk about engine reliability and it turned out to be a non-issue. Do a search on these forums and you'll find out. I'm sure the 12's will follow suit.

Exactly, my thoughts. Very few changes to the 2012's so should be a non issue.

I havent really read anything UNRELIABLE regarding the new CFI 2 800
2011 had a couple small issues that were addressed
nothing along the lines of a piston recall (ski doo), oil line/pump issues (cat) ;)

the 2012's will have these updates and more than likely, be THE most reliable 800 on the snow
combine that w the ProRide chassy, and really you have a super solid sled

I did have a friend last year that had a crank go bad. (For real, though. This isn't one of those "heard of a guy" kind of things, I worked with him. I can give names and phone numbers for him and his dealer) Warranty covered it fine. Only one I've heard of failing. This buddy was "SkiDoo or die", and despite the fact that his engine took a dump at 1100 miles and it didn't have as much power as his tuned in Doo, he still told me the pro chassis was the best thing ever. That was a good enough testimony for me.

Pretty much zero issues with the cfi2 800's..even the 2011 was a oil line deal, and some early injector failures then pretty much perfect..

If ya want total bullitproof buy the 600 pro..thats a known great motor

800 big block broken cranks, 900 bb (there is a reason it only lasted 2 years) and the 800 cfi of 08 to 10. Based on track record not a STUPID question at all. I hope this motor continues to show promise like it did last year cuase the chassis is the best on the market.

tired threads......

i owned 3 800 big blocks. put over 3 thousand miles on each (and know for a fact one i sold had over 5500 last i heard) without a single problem. 6 other riders in my group had the same experience. 1500 miles on my 09, no problems.

It doesn't matter what you purchase..... you are rolling the dice!

For sure! Iv seen all brands with engine issues. I think alot of it just has to do with taking care of your 12,000 dollar expense. Let them warm up properly and be easy on her for a couple miles after take off. This is always overlooked and so many people I see start them up and rip it. I know im slow after first waking up. Takes me a a little bit to come to and function properly. Sleds are much the same. Other than that I dont think you'll be disappointed. I bled green my whole life (still do) and I love my new pro!

I know where you are coming from on the engine. I wondered the same thing. I was on a Doo for the last ten years. Several of my rinding buddies had broken polaris cranks 2001-2005, then the CFI-4 issues. My riding partners sled scored the pistons 3 times on one of his dragons and 4 times on the other. All under warranty but missed lots of riding.
Well, I bought a Pro-800 this year. I have heard good things about this engine.
Lots and lots of them out there and very little complaints. Of course with that many sleds out there, there is gonna be a crapper or two. It happens to all of them. Remember the 08 xp, crank bearing, drive shafts, ect. The xp turned out to be a very reliable sled after the first year bugs.

thanks for answering my questions!

if this turns out to be a reliable sled then next year might be the year of the poo for me!

Time bomb! I had an 08 D8 and popped 4 motors. I hope my 2012 Pro is solid. I love how this thing handles. Killer sled.

Yeah I really wish there was as sarcasm font so everyone would know right away. Yes, polaris has issues with motor reputation, but this motor has a good record so far, the warranty should cover the rest of your concern.
