Hot water on demand water heater

I will have the lines for infloor heat put in the basement slab for future use. But you may have brought up another option that may prove to be a better use of money. I plan on eventually hooking up a boiler so this maybe a good way to kill two birds with one stone. I will have to price out that option and see. Thanks SNOW JW
Now that you have that you will want to go with a boiler, something like a munchkin that has a modulating gas valve, and you can add a indirecd fired water heater. If you buy a good tank you will only lose a 1/2 degree a hour on the water heater. This way you still won't run out of hot water.

If you go boiler and indirect fired hot water maker, be sure to stay away from the mini fin type. They are only about 40% efficient. Find a good sealed combustion 90+% condensing boiler. I use the Lochinvar Knight boiler in all my installs. Costs more than some but the warrenty and tech support can't be beat. All the controlls are a part of the boiler, including the DHW, so you don't have the expense of a controll box. Very easy for joe homeowner to understand. These come as a two pipe vent and intake system, but you can get an optional concentric vent kit for a cleaner look. As for DHW I like the AMTROL costs a little more for dual coil core, but more efficient. There are a lot of brands out there so it requires some research for your specific needs, but if radiant heat is to be combined with domestic hot water, it is the only way to go. Your fuel savings with a demand system will never pencil out regardless what the salesman says. By the way, they do make demand system now that work with recirculating pumps, but you are still lookig at 6-7k for all the parts including venting, not including installation (that would be for direct venting, long vent runs, and out the roof can run 3k). sorry for the book.
