hot underhood temp?

any melted hoods on pro's? I have two, both have damage from underhood temps. Coolant temp remains in check at 125-130F. all the while the hood is liquid and dripping on the pipe.

I usually stop for a break after numerous long pulls or long side hills and underhood is super hot...Iam sure if I kept going things would melt.

TRy vents or give her a rest once in a while.

Not really relevent to you mountin fellas but thought I'd metion it, My 2010 Rush is on its second hood and it would be many more if i didn't open the exhaust side panel after long lake or hard trail pulls. Mine melts right above the muffler but so far havent melted the brake coling duct. Polaris has no answers! :face-icon-small-con

ran both 2012,2013 rmk in deep heavy snow last wknd.snow constantly piled on hoods,no melting but i have almost all vents u can get.also i have hps silencers that are a smaller heat sink and dont retain as much heat.i have removed all foam from clutch side panel and heat shield and foam from exhaust side panel and heat taped it.i have left the foam on under hood.i did not open panels when stopped . no problems.

Ive been having the hood and side panel melt on my 12 600 switchback. Polaris has no idea either. Even on fairly easy rides ave 50-60mph ill stop and I cant even hold my hand over stock muffler. Its been eating up belts too and im thinking its probably related to the high underhood temps. Ill be putting in vents and gearing slower and aftermarket can to try and cool things down. I wish a guy didnt have to "modify" their sled just for normal riding.

If you haven't, pull the clutch-side foam, stock tool bag off the clutch cover, and a few vents (any gauge lifter/vent counts bigtime, too). I'm sure in the right conditions anything will melt, regardless of coolant temps.

Do any of you having hood melt issues have the SLP or other front bulkhead blockoff, below the pipe?

I have a full set of extreme vents plus RSI hood vents and a headlight delete vent
Last time out I melted my hood above the pipe in the front. IMHO it is just the cheap plastic Polaris uses on their hoods.

It gets so hot under my hood by my exhaust can that I melted my goggle lens in my under hood bag. I've even replaced my recoil rope 3 times. So yes it's hot under there. My fix will be GGB can and a pipe that covers the recoil rope, and no more goggles in that under hood bag.
