Horsepower ratings

Is there somewhere I can go to find actual horsepower ratings? I am looking at getting a new sled and would like some numbers from someone besides the manufacturers. I'm riding a 2011 800 Pro RMK. Seems gutless compared to my buddies 2014 800 Ski Doo Summit. He's riding wheelies up the side of mountains while I am giving it my all to 2/3 as high as he goes.

It seems like the 2016 Pro has more power but I haven't been on one.

Thanks

Dynotech research has done numerous dyno runs on all the new 800 sleds. you have to pay $25 a year to see all his work, but here is the results from this years 800 shout out.

1.) Cat 800 - 151.2 Hp @ 8100 rpm
2.) Polaris 800 - 152.5 hp @ 8200 rpm
3.) Skidoo 800 - 158.5 hp @ 8050 rpm

Remember that this is almost at sea level (not sure on the exact elevation). They were all ran on the same dyno with all the same air temperatures. Im sure lots of guys will argue this, but this the only info I have.

I know I ride a 2012 Pro with an SLP stage 4. I can easily outrun/outclimb other stock pros I ride with (and obviously should). My wife has a new Axys and it stays right next to me or ahead of me at all times...

Brent linderman has dyno'd lots of them. (All brands) the cats and doo's are consistently 160+- the old pro's about 145 and the new axis about 155+-

Cat and Doo put out HP ratings but you will never find one from Poo. wonder why:juggle::face-icon-small-ton

Same reason most small engine companies are not doing so anymore...
Some guy hires a attorney because there machine didn't have as much hp as quoted when bought.
So now you get hp #'s from independent testing facility.

so false advertising?

That, and also manufacturing tolerances. Not every sled of the same year/model will be exactly the same...

Same reason they quit putting temperature numbers on your water heater. They're not that accurate. Now they show A, B and C, warm, hot and hotter, lol!

This. My sled pulls 68s to 8400-8450 where most in this area carls recomends 66s (with slp pipe) the few others that have ridden my sled say its stronger than their axys.

Yes HP counts.. But I also think HP to Weight ratio matters also. Not on a Dyno. But on the mountain it means a lot

yes you have nailed it 2 out of 3 manufactures can meet the tolerances and make it and one can't make the tolerances.

Magic sled!!!- Some will perform different than others- we have 3 in our stable that will just flat out do the others -set- up the same...

Hp rating on sleds are at the crank, drive line efficienty is also important, thats where axys shine, expecially with the belt drive. Go on utube, snowtrax tv 2016 episiode #1, than watch #2, it should help answer your question.

I ran a 2013 XM and a 2014 pro RMK side-by-side for two years. The XM had an Roosterbuilt clutch kit and the RMK had Kurt's gear down kit and clutching. Other than that they were both stock. I can tell you that the lowly 145 HP RMK would consistently out run and out climb the mighty e-tec. Seat of the pants the e-tec felt the strongest, but by any measure on the snow the RMK was would pull away from it. Numbers on a dyno don't tell the whole story.

The other 3 are now shying away from giving hard numbers also Mr. Kiliki!
Yamaha has gone to rough #'s because of a lawsuit
Cat is going shying away from #'s now. So....
I would not get so hot and bothered, Ride the machine and tell me if it compares to the one your a fan of.
I highly doubt it will disapoint
