hope my sled didnt get screwed up..

hey guys

well i just got my 09 d8 back from the dealor with the new 2010 update. i dont have a truck and a close friend of mine picked up the sled for me while i was out of town. he took it upon himself to take it for a ride. the dealor did tell him when he picked it up to mix the first tank of gas 40:1.

i had both poo blue and gold in my garage, however he decided to use the mobil1 0-40 full synthetic that i use in my car instead. and being a cheap *** instead of filling the tank full after adding the oil he only filled the tank to half so it was prob a 20:1 mix. he proceeded to run a 1/4 tank like this.

ive removed the 1/4 tank that was left and am going to refill with a proper 40:1 mix and with poo 2 stroke oil. im wondering what negative effect this will have had on my sled and its new engine? thanks a lot

Time to get a new buddy, one like that is a worse screw up waiting to happen. Should be ok, 4-stroke oil can burn also.

Check your spark plugs, automotive oil will leave a carbon deposit-not a big problem but you may need to scrape them near the electrode.

I thought the dealer was supposed to put the blue in the tank and drain all of your oil out of the reservoir and put Poo Gold Plus?? I hope so cause that's how I understood it and didn't do any of that myself! Carl's........... anyone?

yeah i definately am running the poo gold in the resivour. as for what the dealor put in the tank im not sure. i had a msg from them a couple weeks ago that it was done, and my wife phoned back to let em know when we/ or a friend would pick it up. he just told me they told him to make sure to mix the first tank 40:1. had they already put oil in it all theyd need to do is tell him to gas and go.. either way i cant be sure and so i drained the whole tank regardless.

ill check my plugs right away... other than that nobody sees any other ill effects that may have occured?

it will be fine, worse case you need to change the plugs. I would be pissed if I had a buddy pick up my sled and he chose to ride it w/o asking me. and on top of that he sounds like he should not be even allowed to look at a sled

I wouldnt stress over it quarter of a tank probably did not hurt any thing change plugs. if anything exaust valves may be gumed up and may need cleaned but you will know wright away if it doesnt tach wright. ride it like you stoll it
