Honest review anyone?

When people are asking advice on a certain subject about what to buy, does anyone else get annoyed about posts from people that sell a type of the subject under discussion?

Yes we know you sell them, and yes obviously you like them. But if you are going to recommend them, your review/recommendation standards should be higher than the rest of us, because you have a possibility of making money on the sale, while others have nothing to gain nor loose, just the satisfaction of helping another snowmobiler spend his money wisely.

Haha... wrong side of the bed this morning..??;)

Well, I'm not sure how to solve this for you, but I do offer counseling; $300 per hour, first session drinks are on me. You won't be disappointed... Lots of peeps have used my services. And I'm a "good guy" as is so commonly used.... LMAO

Doesn't bother me.
If someone puts up a comment with a product I have never heard from, that means I have something to look at and investigate.

Personally, I would like to see a product tested/review section much like they have over on thumpertalk. :D
Many of us on here do sell alot of the different products that people ask about. If we sell it, one could assume we at least know alittle bit about what we are selling. Many times we have at least tried things on so we know if it is comfortable or not. Sizing, does it run big or small. We decided to stock this product rather than another and why.
I personally like to hear what other venders and people have to say about products. Many different opinions that can make it easier for others to make informed decisions about their next purchase.
I have 1000's of helmets in stock. Can I give you more informed answers or the guy who ordered a tobe helmet because it looks cool. Sorry, not bashing just making an example. As distributors we have factory reps and seminars and product shows that we are constantly attending. We are fed info that as a consumer you will never even get off of a website. Sorry, Ill be done now.

inevidably (sp) the conversation will turn from review to "anybody know where to get best deal" So i dont mind the peeps chiming in that sell them. Heck the more that doo the more competition to help drive the costs down.

I wouldn't mind if they included a little disclaimer and didn't try to come off as a 'satasfied customer' instead of a sales rep
should be manditory imo :D

Exactly. I am not against people that sell stuff to comment, I just expect more than a single line about a product with no review or anything.

When I see that from vendors, I normally cross them off my list. If they only have one sentence to say about a product they sell, doesn't sound like it is fully endorsed.

Thumpertalk does have a pretty good system. Though it is quite easy to spend a lot of money on your bike if you take everyones advise on the must haves.

thefullmonte,

You bring up excellent points, which is why I would expect more from you if you give a recommendation than joe shmoe. You would be able to give pretty good comparisons of things that would help to find the right product for the buyer.

Though, there is the opposite spectrum of this, and I am sure that I would be complaining about that too.

There has been more than one instance where thefullmonte's comments have been usefull. The choices of gear I have made and will make have a lot to do with the reviews I read. Some reviews are obviously bias, which require validation by another source. With time we get to know who is just hocking their wears and who has some substance in their comments.
I just received some boby armor I ordered from http://store.bobscycle.com/ and I am very pleased.
