honest opinions please...

hey guys, im new on here but have been riding for a couple years. i sold my old sled to my dad and now that i keep getting left behind by him and my brother i want to get a sled so i can go with them. Im looking to get an arctic cat 1m, an 800 rev, or an 800 RMK. Putting all your bias aside could you give me some honest opinions on these sleds so that i dont end up getting something im uncomfortable on. Im 6'2" if that helps with the comfort factor. thanks guys. any input is appreciated.

cole id say go stik ur head in a hole maby that would help! ha ha jk! hows it goin! get a rev so u can be like ur lil bro! ha ha ha
hayden

if you are talking a 1m king cat, a 04-07 rev, and a 05 or older rmk go with the rev for the new chasis. The old style sleds are a lot of work in the deep snow because the center of gravity is to low to the ground. Thats my opinion and I drive arctic cats.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the new sleds, all have their problems. If you have a chance to ride them do so and pick the one that feels the best to ya. I am still riding an edge chassie and still love it even after riding the new ones. Good luck!!!

What good is an opinion without the author's biases?

There are alot of good riders on all sorts of sleds that post here on SW. That said, take every word with a grain of salt ( especially these ). This is a great time of year to be looking for a sled. The 08 left over are going cheap, guys are unloading their "old" gear and the factories are hyping the 09s.

I like 4 strokes!

Good luck:beer;

im really leaning towards the 1m but the thing is that i only will have about 4000 to spend. cant afford an 08 or any sort. but thanks for the input guys and keep it commin. oh yea. im looking for 151" track at least. would prefer a 159 or 162

They all have good/bad. Sounds like you have it narrowed down to three. Get some seat time on all of them and then research the common problems. Make your decision based on that info and hope for the best!

I would go with the 1m or King cat for the price you are looking for. I have also seen alot of king cats for the same price. I came off of a 01 RMK to the king cat. Cat was more reliable motor and tons of torque and HP. The older revs had engine problems have seen a bunch shell the motor (Most of the guys in my group ride doo) if you go around 5k you could get into a 2005 M7.

I'd go with REV. The 05s - 06s were both good sleds. Mine burned down but that was my fault. Personally, I don't like the Ms, I too am 6'2" and the fit wasn't comfortable for me.

The 1M 900 was a very torquey sled
A buddy has the Poo VE 800 and it's a runner, but still has the trailing arms and old chassis. Try to get something newer if ya can. If you shop properly, 4grand can get ya a decent sled.

4 grand will definately get a good sled this time of year.

If you know a good dealer, tell him what your interested in.
This time of year, they would love to "give one away" rather than store/summerize etc.

I had a 1M 900 2003 151". Very very reliable. I put over 3500 miles on it and sold it to a young guy from our club and he has thrashed it for two years no problem. Monster motor, mega torque. A lot of fun especially for younger guys you will work, but have a big grin.

If you can find a good M7 and find another thousand bucks, they are awesome handling but won't out climb a King Cat. (Stock for Stock)

Good luck on your hunt, you should be able to find an excellent sled for the bucks.

Oh my friend has a Doo 800 like you mentioned and it has been stellar.

I would be considered a Poo guy...Id buy the Cat. These are very different sleds your looking at. I have heard taller guys dont like the fit. Im only 5'9" and I loved all my buddies 1Ms. PJ has a good point about the trailing arms, once you try the new geometry its hard to not want one (IQ). Revs I think are love em or hate em, Im the later I think they run great but the C.G. seems to high for my tastes, now I have never spent a whole day on one either. Good luck no one builds a bad sled. Be careful when your buying old iron usually its someone elses problem.

I would go with the dealer in your area that has the best reputation, then buy the sled brand he sells.
