honest opinions please...

hey guys, im new on here but have been riding for a couple years. i sold my old sled to my dad and now that i keep getting left behind by him and my brother i want to get a sled so i can go with them. Im looking to get an arctic cat 1m, an 800 rev, or an 800 RMK. Putting all your bias aside could you give me some honest opinions on these sleds so that i dont end up getting something im uncomfortable on. Im 6'2" if that helps with the comfort factor. thanks guys. any input is appreciated.

The doo or the poo is the only real choice to make with the sizes you said IMO.

I would pick the poo as it's what suits me best from my expierences. The doo seems a bit weak (strength wise) for the way I treat things, Polaris has always been a bit more durable it seems. I have ridden the 1m, and all the M series stuff and it didn't impress me one bit. Kind of shocking in a way as there are a lot of people with them.

Kingcat

Why? Rev's are hit and miss, you either get a good one, or more likely to get one that fails horribly

800RMK aint got the nuts like the kingcat does, nor is it as light

Kingcat is the shiz man :) Easy to boondock and will outclimb the other 2 :D

Polaris for me. The ski doo will blow up. Arctic cat has a small gas tank. Aside from that I have no real problem with arctic cat. I've always had good luck with Polaris and at least for me they are relatively easy to work on. Oh yeah their fast too!!!:D

have you ridden the doo?

Have you ridden the KK?

what is your style of riding?

It is really hard to beat the rider forward style, which is why all brands are moving to it...most of the ones you are thinking about (which is all brands but Yammie) are all good, and you should be able to get a good one...

How the heck do you justify selling a sled to your own dad? That is just plain stupid, he gave you life and spent thousands on you while you were growing up. Talk about greed in the worst way.

Just my thoughts on that.

Now that's just crazy, what's so wrong with selling something to your dad, I've sold my dad a sled. My dad sold me a trailer. He doesn't have to buy it from me, but if i need the money, my dad would buy something from me as a favor. Someday i hope to repay the favor (favors) but until i can afford it, i'm not giving stuff away just cuz it's my dad. He can borrow my stuff anytime he wants though. I hope i get the same treatment from my kids.

stfu!!!

well first off jack a$$... i would like to say something. my bro (hopingandwishing) had blown up his sled twice that year and was broke so my dad like all other dads would do helped out his broke son. my dad at the time had a powder special and was coming sledin with me more and more and he needed a bigger sled and he had already paid for most of the parts so he bought my bro a gun and called it even and thats when it became his. my dad was doing what all other dads...heelping out his son. its not like he sold him a sled that was totaled out and lied to him about it. some people need to pull their heads out for once!:mad:

For the amount of money you want to spend I would say the 1m is the slam dunk choice. $4000 will buy you one heck of a nice 900 1m. The 900 motor is just about as bulletproof as you'll find in a 2 stroke. One problem that you'll probably run into is that being 6'2" the stock cat seat is way to low to be comfortable. I'm 6'2" myself, and I had to take my seat to an upholstery shop and have it made taller. Then once I made the seat taller, I found that the bars were then too low. A 3" ole's riser later and it's better (although if I had it too do over I'd go with a 4-5" riser, but that's my personal preference). Between the seat and the riser I've got about $150 invested and it's much nicer to ride than a stocker.

The rev is a great chassis and will probably fit you much better in stock condition, but $4000 will probably buy you a rev with some hard miles and a lot of use.

The 800 poo will probably run really good, but it seems like you'll either get a good one that will last or you'll be buying cranks and cases like they're going out of style.

sounds like my dad! if i wanted a new sled or vehicle, he would buy if from me for more than it was worth most of the time so i could have fun on a new one. he is like a big kid and just likes to see his kids enjoy the same things that he does. not to mention it makes him feel young when he can smoke me on my old iron!

I have had revs since 04 and haven't had any major problems. I have ridden 1M's and POOs and they don't even conpare to the ride of the rev. it feels like you are laying on your couch riding up the mountain on those sleds!
