There is a lot more about a 2-stroke pipe then bending a couple pieces of metal. If you are wanting to tackle a project like that, I would suggest reading A Grahm Bells "2-Stroke Performance Tuning" and al the literature on pipe building as you can.

However, how are you going to test each pipe version? Manufacturers and after market companies spend 100s of hours on the dyno making tests. a 2 mm change in length or volume can make a huge difference, both good or bad.

Try calling Mike Hair at CPI racing he should be able to give you some good info and I think they will sell you parts to build your own pipes at least they used to.

find a set of 700 twin race pipes for the chassis and run them. they should almost bolt up and should work good enough. or call up crankshop or PAR.

If you already have a set of pipes you can cut the existing bends into pie shape pieces and start the fitting process by turning the pie shaped piece to diffrent angles to get the bends tighter or straighter as you need them. It takes alot of time and patience and you have to be good with a tig welder but its doable. I put a thundercat motor in an old polaris wedge chasis years ago for an asphalpt drag racer. Many hours of cutting, turning and tacking pieces of pipes to fit.You will have to rig up a pressure test to make sure your welds are sealed as well. I had to cut all three pipes into many pieces, but it worked and was able to fit them all under the stock hood. They worked well enough for me to win an NHRA nationals final championship on that sled.

Have fun with it. :face-icon-small-ton
