Home Made Single Place Sleddeck

I dont trailer my sled. I usually have it in the back of my truck whenever I go riding. I have ran into a few situations where there isn't anything to back my truck up to to load up the sled and it sucks. I have been eyeing The Tips sled deck/ramp for a couple years now and decided to build one for myself. Work in progress but here are a few pictures of it.

How it should look without the plywood deck

This set up will allow me to push the back half of the deck up to the main deck once the sliders are welding into place and the ramp will be able to fit between them both between the wheel wells with the tailgate folded up.

About 90% done with welding. Should be Finished this week.

Extended the back half and put in the ramp holder that will keep the alignment straight.

Slider from the back piece to the front. It is straighter than the picture looks.

This is how I made the back half not slide out of the front half. 1X1 square tube over the 3/4X3/4 with a hole and a pin though it. Put white Lithium grease in the slider and the bottom part of where the plywood runs to make it easier to pull in and out.

On the slider part of the deck I welded on four hinges so the plywood is flexable while sliding into the front deck. Installed some chain and clips to hold the ramp from moving forward or backwards while loading the sled. Also doubles as a ramp tie down while the ramp is loaded underneath the deck.

Ramp with the plywood on minus the carbide sliders. (Got too dark and is the last picture update. I will install sliders on the ramp on the top of the deck overlaping the sliding deck for a smoother transition)

Now I can't wait for snow. Waiting on a couple sled parts and I am ready for the year.

nice job! i thought about doing something like that but was too lazy to do all the work so i bought a sledarc ramp. the best thing about this setup is that you can stop right at the bottom and then just putt up because of the traction piece that lays on the ground. same thing with coming off. might be something to think about adding to the end of your ramp. i've always found the worst part of sled decks having to have the right speed when loading/unloading or your stuck at the bottom of the ramp...

Nice job on the deck, I to am too lazy, so this is what I came up with, 10.5 feet long, on my third year.

I like both set ups. I just hated having a ramp folded up laying on my sled. The bottom track grip is a good idea though. Is the 10.5 ft long tilt a manufactured deck? Looks good.

Homemade as well, I'm too cheap. With your welding skills you could probably whip out something similar fairly easy. I don't weld, so I bolted together "Bosch" extruded aluminum.

the revarc actually is a trifold and lays flat in the bed right between the track and the wheel well, just fold it up and slide it up to the back of the ski. can't believe the ground traction piece isn't on every type of sled ramp, once you use one you just love it...

I have looked at the Rev Arc ramp and like the idea when hauling a single sled. What are you using in the bed of the truck for the sled to sit on?
We cut-up some 3/4" marine grade plywood with track grips for our truck beds last season and it also protects the bed from the ski skags.

wow nice fab skills. try lining the ski ramps with plastic pickup bed liner to keep them on track. im using a 6' long atv ramp with 6" wide bedliner strips screwed to the aluminum ramp. works great to keep the skiis tracking straight

I have an old single place trailer that I pulled the plastic ski guides off of. I will be installing them on the ramp sometime this week.

That is a lot of weight on the cables that hold your tail gate. Might be just fine but it might be something to look at.

The back half only weighs about 60 pounds, when the sleds on there it wont be too much heavier. I think it will hold up alright. It's not extended off the back of the tailgate at all.
