home made running boards

my dad actually built that gas rack for me. he cut it out on the plasma cam. its nice having a dad as a welding teacher.ha. i could have used a spool gun but theres alot of tight spaces, i dont think i could have fit the nozzle in most of the places. finally got a good ride on them today and they worked alot better than stock no kicking at all thank god. ha. the cleats got ice built up on them at the end of the day. once the boost kicked in it shot my feet right off there. it was a sight to see, both feet dragging in the snow and hangin on tight ha.

Update?...
How are the boards holding up?
Anything you would have done different?
What wall thickness did you use on the 5/8 tubing?

Thanks.

i think the 5/8 tubing was like an .068. it seemed pretty thin when i got the tubing but when it was all together it was pretty sturdy. the ice screws seem to collect ice on them if it gets warm enough to melt the snow and then freeze on them. idk maybe paint them before install would help. the snow builds up right next to the tunnel. not a whole lot but just enough to be annoying. i saw akboard used flat stock aluminum next to the tunnel instead of tubing, i think that would eliminate snow buildup there. they work awesome in the powder though. alot better than stock. i get quite a few comments on how they like em, then there surprised that i made em, which is pretty cool. i had a buddy t bone the sled going prob 20mph the other day and broke the running board whereit bolts up to the frame in the front just a quick weld and back to new. i think that there plenty wide enough and have alot of traction. i never weighed them but i bet maybe 2lbs each. post it on here if you build some, id like to see how it all goes.
