Did anyone else see that sucker about an hour or so ago. Lit the whole yard up. We heard the thing hit a couple mins later.

It was more than likely that space walkers "tool bag" she lost a day or so ago. If you find it, you might have a cool tool kit for the sled eh!

I don't think they have confirmed yet all speculation so far. Th smoke trail was right above my house. All the neighbors were out on there decks trying to figure out what hell it was.

It probably landed 100 miles away. What's deceptive about these things is the true speed they're going. I've seen/heard them before, but odds are they landed a state or two away.

The angle they come in at (usually very shallow) and the speed they're going puts you at a disadvantage if you're expecting one to land in your backyard. Most of them burn up in the atmosphere and never land at all. It takes a damn big meteor to make it through the atmosphere and land in a solid piece. What usually happens is one big one that could make it to the ground ends up breaking into a few smaller pieces (Outside heats up faster than the inside, temperature gradient causes it to shatter) and none of the smaller meteroids make it down.

Not saying it's not possible, but very very very unlikely it even made contact with this planet, let alone landed "just over that hill".

my friend was crusing down the hiway comin back into town when he seen it... he thought it was the end..... or those sneaky russians?

i mite've heard a rumble on the couch... or was it a fart... still not sure

At about 10PM last night, I seen a shooting star. I was driving into town to get a metal sliver outa my eye from Porting my jugs.... i was like COOOL damn near drove off the road. It wasnt this one, as this was in BC. But we must be entering an asteroid belt or something?? It may have been a broken off chunk of this one??

I have been working nights and have seen more "shooting stars" the last few weeks than anytime for several years. There was one about week and a half ago that was huge. I watched it for at least 3 or 4 seconds as it went from the east to the west. It was very cool.........
This time of the year, four years ago the Northern Lights were spectacular. I haven't seen them since here in southern WY.

I just pulled into my driveway around 6:30 CST and saw it just before I got out of my car. Thought it was kids playing around with fireworks, but it was WAY too bright.

The only other one I witnessed was around 10 years ago on the way home from a hockey game. The whole sky lit up like it was daytime, and everyone in the vehicle looked at each other with the "WTF was that?"

10 years ago, I was up on Lake Superior on Isle Royal.

We were moored off shore in a bay. It was 3am and we had just arrived from Grand Portage, MN.

We were sitting on my cruiser having a cocktail, when the sky lit up bright as day. fireball lasted 2-3 seconds, huge sonic boom, then the fireball dissappeared just over the horizon.

About 7am, we are sleeping, and feel the boat get caught up in a fairly large swell. (There were no other waves, the lake was completely glass). The swell came back to us off shore and pulled the anchor free from its mooring.

I think the meteor landed in the lake somewhere, and the waves that resulted hit our boat about 4 hours later.

Really eirry at the time..........
