Hold down ideas?

I just bought a 22' drive on/off trailer and am looking for ideas to tie down the 4wheelers when going somewhere. The sleds are held down with superclamps but not really looking to spend that kinda coin on the wheelers. So what are you guys useing to hold the wheelers down?

I use four small straps or two heavy duty ones, sometimes I use the winch on front, they make wheel chok that work good kinda like a motor cycle

Speaking of d rings, does anyone know if you can get the super-clamp d ring separate from the clamp and what they are rated at? I think if I just add a few of those it would work out nicely.

I use Superclamps for sleds and D rings that I bolted along the length of the trailer for wheelers. I use custom ratchet straps with tie back D-rings that I had fabricated at Alaska Wire & Rope. They make heavy lifting straps, commercial truck tie downs, etc. so HD ATV straps were easy. The straps are 2-3 times heavier than the cheap straps found at the box stores and ATV dealers.

Yes you can. My dealer has HD D rings for use with my Superclamps that mount tight into the channel with a wedge type bolt that locks into the track. I don't remember the numbers, but the straight pull and 45 degree pull ratings are cast into the sides of the HD D ring. You can see two of them in the track in the picture above, they stay put not like the black T channel ones that are loose and shoot out when your sled/atv drive over them.

I bought extra super clamp anchors when I was setting up my trailer and I believe they ran like $12 or $15 each... then I could put them in ANY location I thought I would ever want to tie the sleds down at or use them for the quads.

Other than that I would just recommend some quality ratcheting straps:beer;

Thanks alot for all the ideas guys. I'm going to go look at the hardware stores this weekend and see what I can come up with.:face-icon-small-coo

Superclamp ATV/UTV Tie down System

Thanks alot for all the ideas guys. I'm going to go look at the hardware stores this weekend and see what I can come up with.:face-icon-small-coo

We at Superclamp have a NEW Superclamp ATV/UTV Tie Down System , check out our website for more details and watch our video, call me if you guys have any questions. 1-403-203-2210 www.superclamp.net

I have a Triton XT 10 and I drilled holes in the aluminum sides, (front, middle, rear)large enough to fit a tie hook thru, and I also bolted a 3' section of 1.5" angle iron parallel to rear of bed close to the rear and it is bolted on using a few Eye bolts (shank size equal to tie down bars) and I hook tie downs to those.

I load facing forward with 2 straps on rear of each quad, and 1 strap or 2 on fronts depending how far I'm driving. I load the dirt bike facing forward in the middle, with front wheel resting at the front of the bed against a stop.

This is the way to tie down your ATV or UTV.

So slick!! Works excellent and is very easy to install. One more product I have added from the dudes from superclamp. I wonder what they are cooking up next.

I don't understand what you mean? Are you referring to the ATV clamp system?

E track is used in commercial trucks. Type e track trailer in ebay .

E track can be rated up to 61000 lbs if welded to the frame. The accessories, straps clamps, hooks, etc. are cheap and endless.

Wheel bonnets or tire bonnets strap over and around a wheel.

Again type tire bonnet on ebay

Tire bonnets over muddy wheels is not to fun and also if you are in a inclosed trailer , good luck, check out the new way of tieing your ATV/UTV and is also lockable, www.superclamp.net

Don't see the problem with wheel bonnets and muddy wheels??? You don't even have to touch the tire. Drape the bonnet over and ratchet down. Removes in literally ten seconds. Hose it off if dirty. Also enclosed trailer not a problem at all. In fact this system is the most widely used among auto transporters as it is very secure. Only issue is if a tire goes flat. Which would be a problem with the superclamp as well. Ultimately it is best to be tied down to the frame, but that is more hassle.
To each their own I guess

In an inclosed trailer with a side by side , you do not have enough room to be monkeying around on the passanger side because you have to off set your side by side so you can get out of your utv's door, and when you have 2 Atv's side by side, both front and back tires that are just about touching in the center ,LOL, ya, your right only about 10 seconds, and Good luck to anyone trying to put a wheel strape on the passanger side closest to the wall. I know for a FACT this is a hassel, with Superclamp ATV/UTV, I no for a fact it is not a hassel. Auto transporter are totally different, and are not inclosed, they are open. Question, after a great days riding on the trails and your atv/utv is covered in mud, you say hose it off if it is dirty, I don't know anyone that has a hose to wash there units off at the parking lot before the load there machines. ya, to each their own. Everyone go back to Evil Revo's post with the pics and then try to tell yourself how easy it is to strap and or tire bonnet it down. Superclamp is the new way of clamping (not tiedown straping) your ATV/UTV down in seconds and is lockable and they are worth every penny you spend.

Answer....was talking about hosing off the straps after they are put on a muddy tire. Not trying to argue with ya. Those clamps look pretty cool. Just never had any issues with my $20 straps or bonnets...that's all I am saying. Great idea and a great alternative for guys to look at...sure you have and will sell a bunch!
