HMK warranty?

Does HMK warranty any of there products? My less then year old boots soles are falling off, seperating from the boot itself. Not both, just one. Seems like a odd defect to me.

Give them a shout, they should be able to fix you up. I had a pair of bibs that had some seems let loose. I emailed them with pics and they sent out a new pair shortly there after. Great service.

I'll be trying out their warranty too... 23 rides on the team boa focus boots and the "chip proof" soles already have a hole wore through on the bottom. Awesome boot other than that.

I could be speaking out of line here, but we have dealt with several warrantee issues this past year, both from understanding and not so understanding parties. If the soles are wearing through into the bottom of the boot, that is going to be seen as wear and tear. If the sole is just flat peeling away from the boot, that could possibly be a defect. Things like seams, stitching, de-lamination, BOA issues, leaking etc are warrantable but wear and tear are not. I realize you say that you have only ridden 23 times, but wear and tear is relative to how you ride and treat them too, and as a manufacturer that is hard to judge…. HMK is a GREAT company to work with and makes great products, but the fact of the matter is, Boots, Gloves, Helmets, and Goggles are all considered wear items. They need to be replaced after a year or two of riding generally. Just the way it is anymore, especially with how aggressive we ride and built the traction pieces on our sleds.

TAKEN FROM HMK on BOOT WARRANTY

"All HMK Boots are covered by a one year limited warranty. This limited warranty covers materials and/or workmanship found to be defective (as determined by HMK) within 12 months from the date of purchase. Products found to be defective will be repaired or replaced as determined by the manufacturer. For all Warranty requests and questions contact HMK at (541) 386-3262. You must obtain a return authorization number for all warranties."

Also, if they decide to warranty them for you guys, and don't have your size to warranty them, give us a shout we may be able to help. As of a couple weeks ago all Team BOA, and Team Focus Boot's other than super small or large sizes were sold out in all colors.

Let us know if we can help!!

They are really good about covering manufacture defects and equipment failure. Although as BM stated they make a case by case decision. It think it is important to get right on an issue though...if a sole is failing then you wear it a dozen more times the real problem can be masked by wear.

Mine is not from wear. Soles look great. My left boot got soaking wet last sunday. When I went to put it on monday I notice the sole pulling away from the boot, "delaming". It's doing it in two places but only one boot. Don't mind the grey residue, I attempted to duct tape it to keep my foot dry monday, had to peal the tape off to get pics. It's delamed enough that you can stick your finger between the sole and the boot.

Really hoping they stand behind there product on this one as I really like these boots and HMK.

Mine are a wear issue, just way to fast IMO. Especially when the sales rep tells me how much better they are than my Klim radiums and the soles will not "chip". 3 years with the Klim boots on a sled that I had to kick twice as much to keep clean as my current ride and yeah they're trashed but that's acceptable wear to me. 23 rides on a pair of $350 boots with a hole in the sole is not acceptable to me.

I would jump on it ASAP! Those boots are not this years model, so likely a year old already and as they stated above they have a one year warranty on boots. Even if you bought them on closeout this year I would call and call right away!!

While I agree with what seems as a short lived life, still very relative to how they were used and ridden, I probably would not have relied solely on the what the rep told ya. He obviously is trying to sell his product over the competitors. You will also find this sort of scheme with companies who are not directly related to a brand, but can only carry certain brands, they most likely tell you what you want to hear to sell what they carry.

This is the hardest part in business, and why we try to be as neutral as we can be with brands. Some work better, and last longer than others…..the key is comparing apples to apples with brands not just boot to boot.. With this said, I have buddies who go through 2-3 sets a year because they wear them out. There are a ton of factors in warranties like this, which is why they take them on individual basis. Best of luck to ya, maybe you can get the rep to help you out if you can track him down, or the person who sold them to you??

Correct, they are not this years boots. I bought them less then a year ago, and this model is still being widely sold. From the sounds of it they will warranty them but wouldn't say till they have them. Got em' boxed and ready to ship, might run down to the post office today. I would be estatic to have them replaced, I would be happy if they just tried to repair them. Looks like I'm going to be breaking in some Nike snowboard boots in the mean time.

I agree
I have one ride on my hmks( bought
hmks because the stompers were sold out in my size)130 miles or so.
Really like the boot, but the bottom of the sole already shows signs of wear.
No kicking snow on my ride I have air frames.
I will be lucky to get a full season out of them.

HURRY!

Ya for sure I would get them there ASAP. Like I say, they are usually VERY good to work with as far as defects go.

HMK!

I bought the Peak Pants and Jacket this season, ten days of riding and I am completely soaked from the knees down! Emailed HMK and they wanted me to send them in for warranty consideration, I asked what was I to wear while my pants are sent away? Emailed me back and said I could send the pants in after the season was done. This is ok but the quality of the gear in my opinion is not good! Will be going back to Klim!

Apples to Apples

Did you have the Peak or Peak 2 setup? This is the apples to apples comparison that we were talking about above. The peak and peak 2 pant and jacket combos are the top of the line gear for HMK. And they retail for a combined jacket and pant price of $539.00 (Peak 2 Jkt and Pant) and $404.00 (Peak Jkt and Pant). And both of these combos have interior liners in them that can be used as separate layering pieces with or without the pants and jacket. So really you are getting 4 pieces with each purchase. But either way, the two top of the line Klim setups are going to cost you $820.00 (Valdex Jkt Togwotee Bibs) and $800 (Keweenaw Jkt and Bibs). Basic comparison of apples to apples would tell you that you are probably getting more with the more expensive pieces. Things like Gore-Tex brand waterproofing etc.

Fact is, some people just can't shell out $800+ for the top of the line in one brand but can swallow $500 for top of the line of another. Every brand that has been around for a while has a place in the market for sure, whether it be style, price, or usability/functionality.

I do have a question for ya though if you don't mind. What would you have rather had them do with the warranty? HMK is a great company to work with along with the other top brands we carry. I would assume you would have liked to have them send you out another set right away? I hope you understand why companies cannot just do this without knowing the product is a manufacturer defect first……everybody and their brother would be calling to warranty things that are not the manufacturers problem…

Also, not trying to say you don't have a valid issue, just trying to keep the thread on track and not become a bash fest. If you are wet from the knees down something is an issue, I agree.

HMK!

Yes I purchased the peak 2! I have no problem spending good money on my gear or anything I purchase for that matter, it was not about the money, I just wanted to try something different, I purchased HMK for that reason, everyone has Klim, and I didn't want to look like everyone else in Revy! LOL. But next year I will!

I have no problem with what they told me about the warranty, I did not expect HMK to send me out new pants! Did I say I did, NO! I posted that they told me I could send the pants in after the season was done for warranty consideration. Witch is fair.

Two joke! You may be a trail rider, I on the other hand only use the trail to get to the Big Mountains of BC! Jackazz!
