hitting rev limiter

I put a full 2.5" exhaust and boondocker air filter and am now hitting the rev limiter. Its not bouncing off until high speeds but is hitting when pinning the throttle are, so what should I do about it?

Just worked on mine today after adding some hp, had the same problem. Must have adjustable weights and move some weight out towards the tip. Got by without doing the spring for now.

I would buy adjustable weights, either CPC or MDS. That way when you add most power next time it's easy to adjust for the rpm change.

Yup

First mod I did was a 3" TD full exhaust. I was amazed at how much power I got from just installing the exhaust kit. I had to add weight!

It is almost impossible to keep it off the rev limiter with the narrow powerband the stock tune with a piggy back gives. All of our tunes are raised to 8500, but in the future we will be raising the limit to 8800 to allow the clutches more overshift without hitting the rev limit before it settles to 8100-8200. This and not being able to manipulate timing are the biggest draw back to all piggybacks.

so what do you suggest? Hoping to get your programmer in the next month or so.

im curious about this too, mine didnt start hitting the rev limiter until i blew my first belt, thinking i may need to take a scotch brite to the clutches and take the glaze off them

Please clarify...

Well I was wanting to looking to making my clutch engage a little faster. What would be better?
Are you looking for quicker spool up, or lower engagement? Even adding a can to the 1100T in stock form allows the engine to breathe, which will have you bouncing off the rev limiter. You have two ways to contend with this: Use a lighter spring with a lower engagement & finish rate ( I used a polaris gold 100/275 last year with good results AND heavier weights at 90g, tip heavy, as I was running a BC250 kit - stock spring is 122/285 with 85g weights)., or heavier weights only, which will not really change engagement much, but may help keep you off the rev limiter. Realistically, the best bang for your buck is an EVO tune with BRV, and clutch to keep RPM in check. Hope this answers your question.

What's the elevation you ride? I ride 8 to 12k feet.
