The Biodiversity Conservation Alliance (BCA) announced today that it is closing its office In Laramie, Wyoming, as of February 28, 2014. "25 years of success in advocating for the wild places of Wyoming and the species that inhabit them could not have been accomplished without our members and supporters," said Board President Ken Driese.​

BCA was initially launched as a grass roots group focused on the Medicine Bow National Forest. Early fights to stop timber sales in the Rock Creek area (still potential wilderness) expanded into broader advocacy on long-term forest plans, clean air, "smart drilling" efforts, and judicious siting of wind turbines to protect and preserve wild species and their habitat.​

Driese emphasized that it has been the hard work and dedication of the staff, volunteers and membership that has made those successes possible. "Individuals and foundations who stood beside us with both their firmly held convictions and their generous contributions have been the lifeblood of BCA. You have our deepest appreciation."​

"BCA has based its work on sound science and has moved wherever those data have taken us, whether that means public education, participation in state and federal agency hearings, or litigation," said Driese.​

​

"For 25 years BCA has been a "voice for the wild'. Although we are closing our office, we intend to do all we can to ensure that this work continues."​
