Highest RPM's on XP?

I bought an 08 XP about 2 months ago, and no matter what type of snow I was climbing or riding on I couldn't get the RPM's over 7900, usually not even that high. I weigh 280 and the previous owner is quite a bit lighter. He offered to take some weight out of the clutch. Today when I rode after some weight was removed I could easily hit 8400 RPM's, 8440 was the highest. That was on really set up snow and the clutch on clicker 6. Should I just click down to 4 or 5 or should I add a little weight? This is all on a JD clutch. I know very little about clutching. Thanks

Click down for now, you dont want to clutch it now in hero snow spring conditions. You need to target your sleds most efficient rpm to hit about 8200 on the stock tach mainly on clicker 2 or 3 at your main riding elevation. Then as you move up to the higher elevations you click up to maintain the 8200.

Get back to us in decmber/january when the snow is more normal to the main riding consitions and we can dial you in better, if needed.

I was hitting about 8400 before the rev limiter started to take over when ridding hero snow. Had to drop the clickers from four to three. I weigh around 170 and ride 8200 to 10800 feet.
