High Wind's a Big Beach

Saturday Went to go pick up 2 brand new sleds on the way back heading south on I-25 in Colorado the wind was blowing up to 80mph. Wind caught trailer and blew it on its side than rolled truck over its side. Nobody got hurt. Trailer weighed about 5000lbs and looked like a kite off the back of the truck.
Just a heads up, it happens real fast
Be Safe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where did that happen? Is there any way you could have avoided it or this just a **** happens type thing.

We were heading north from the Walsenberg yesterday with a 4 place and it did blow us around a little but no too bad. We were doing 75-80 the whole way. I wonder if the dualie makes a difference in the wind?

Sure does make a case to use the tie down bars though.

I have seen this happen quite a few times on the interstate between Livingston and Big Timber. Seems like everything is good up to 50mph winds, but the intermittent gusts in the 60-90mph range really jack people up. I bet that will be a hell of an insurance claim. Glad no one was hurt.

I see you tie your sleds down like I used to. Only took doing a 360 once with my enclosed (luckily didn't tip it) to throw a couple straps on them just in case. Anything helps. Hope everything turns out ok with your setup. Could have been a lot worse.

heard, about this, glad you didnt get hurt. trucks, trailers, and sleds can be repaired. be safe out there. ski

Glad to hear you are ok it was windy here in greeley all weekend and still blowing like some of the blonde college girls around here... really hard!!! so if anyone else is heading up or down I-25 near wyoming colorado border i would be very carefull.

Guess you should have had a Yamaha in there to give the load some more weight and keep it from blowing away. :face-icon-small-ton Seriously glad everyone is ok. I have seem Semi's dumped on their side on 1-25 up by Cheyenne.

HOLY CRAP!!!!

I had visions of that happening too this weekend...but it turned out just fine.
I had TWO polaris 850 quads on the sled deck and we had some CRAPPY wind storms.

Blew me all over the road. I was thinking how ugly it would have been had it gotten worse.

Looks like we have almost the same truck.
Mine is a 2000 f250 stroker Lariat. Black with tan.

pilot error if you ask me. the news should have interviewed your co-pilot. i'm sure he would have set the record straight. that cat, although maybe a bit undernourished, is legit.....

Might want to check the flying nun on those sleds.
Too soon?

That really sucks, hope everything's insured. Truck's insurance should cover all of it.

Glad no one was hurt.

Sorry to hear about that. I feel your pain abit. I live in Cheyenne and know exactly what the wind can do in these parts. Glad everyone was safe.
