It's important to know what "high" actually means in the North American Avalanche Danger Scale...
Regarding the possibility or likelihood of an avalanche occurring "high" means that natural avalanches are likely and that human caused avalanches are very likely.
In regard to where you can expect an avalanche to occur, there is very little safe terrain during this condition. We should expect Large slides in many areas and very large slides in specific areas.
Travel in or below avalanche terrain is not recommended.
We can go out in conditions like this but in order to be safe we need to be well away from avalanche terrain. This includes staying out of run out zones.
