HID headlights on 2009 RMK 800 Dragon

Ok well I will add my experience with these bulbs. I have about 500 miles on them now, in my 08 D8. And love them, other than the fact that I have a faulty ballast. (I think) One bulb will always come on when I start the sled, but the one side will only come on about half the time. It comes on quite dim sort of flickering, then with some time will recover and shine full strength. If it doesn't come on I have to shut off the sled, and restart, some times a few times before it will even try to come on. Ever seen this catkiller? Is it just my ballast?

Mine does the same thing about 80% of the time. All you have to do is flip to your high beams and back to normal to fix it.

I found this post in the archives... looked sweet so I ordered a set and will hopefully be installing them tonight. Any word on how other peoples have held up since install?

Be warned about this brand, a few of us put them in our pickups and the ballists went bad one after the other and cooked the bulbs, no warranty. The dead give away is the foreign righting on the box, ended up paying more for a pair called EFX euro effects and you'll see the quality right away the ballasts are encased in stainless steel not some cheap metal and the 35watt, 8000k bulbs have a much better light kind of a smoke no blue not until you go to 10000k over a year old and our winters can be long.

Thanks for the info. I did end up installing them last night and while they are cool, I wasn't TOTALLY amazed. We will have to see when I can actually move the sled. The blue light is nice once you get used to them, but I see what the guy meant about the corona being stinkin bright. Time will tell. It does look wicked sitting there idling though. :face-icon-small-hap

The EFX Euro's may go in if I am not satisifed with these. Thanks for recommending. What did you mean about the 8000k vs 10000k? You prefer which one?

The 8000k aren't blue like the ones you just put in, they almost have a bit of a smoked tint to them, it's very easy on the eyes from the drivers side. The 10,000k have a blue tint but it's still lighter than yours. If you start noticing that they don't look the same after a while and swear that it's different every time that means the ballist is cooking the bulb, you'll notice the bulb swelling in a spot or the inside graying.

I bought white bulbs that are 8000k - I didn't buy the blue. But thanks for the heads up, I will keep an eye on the bulb deforming.

Didn't work for me - do you have a youtube link perhaps?

BTW my lights look awesome. Everyone else is jealous. See how they work when the f-ing snow gets here. Sooommme day.....

need a little help with my HID's on my 09 Assault. i have installed them and the HID's work on low beam but when i switch to the high beam the lights just flicker between HID and halogen. They will not turn on fully as high beams, I also noticed that the high beam light is always on even when the switch is on low beam. Just wondering if i have my wires mixed up? I've tried pretty much every combination of wire hook ups, any help would be great thanks

It's hard to mix up the wiring on these.. Sounds more like a switch issue to me. Seeing how your high beam light stays on.

This is what your "add cart" and "description" tabs need to look like before you order.

Extra wiring harness is un-neccasary. Also you can get what ever temp bulbs you like, but I like 8000K on the sleds, and 6000K in the cars and pickups.

Well after 15 months its time for 1 new ballast. The halgon works fine on both sides but only 1 HID will light up. I confirmed its the ballast by swapping it side for side. To bad they only have a 12 month warranty.

Im debating on just getting a whole new set and going with the Digital Slim ballasts instead of the standard ballasts - (60 for the whole set or 17 for the ballast). Should make sticking them in the dash a little easier since they are smaller - Gonna put them in my 2012 Pro this fall when its in. Has anyone gone with those?

On my truck I got the relay harness but those were for Bi-Xenon HIDS. I also went with McCulloch HIDS on the truck and have had 0 issues on it but I don't ride the sled enough to justify spending the same amount on my sled as I did my truck.

CatKiller has HID's on his Pro, he said they were a total pain as the electrical setup is totally different.

Do not use the Digital Slim Ballasts, they do not hold up like the standard ballasts.

I'm doing a night ride next week at Duck Creek in Southern Utah, riding to Brian Head from the main highway, excited to put them to use!!

So, am i going to have a problem on my 2007 rmk 600 carb? I want to but the dual HID kit in because they will be much brighter but maybe not as far. Send me a pm pls

The kit only works on CFI engines.
You'd need to install a motor cycle battery to get them to work on a carbed sled. It would be no problem if you had e-start.
