Hey, All you "Hosers" I have a question for you

So, can any of you tell me what the material is that the hose from the Yamaha Nytro Sump Tank that connects back into the Air Box is made out of???

picture.php

The reason I ask is that I am trying to "plumb" in my rollover valve with the new oil tank and route a line down along the outside of the tank for a breather that sits below it.
But I am having a heck of a time finding any hose made of this same material.
Both of these hoses are unbraided, very soft, very flexible/pliable.

The Silicone hoses I have looked at are NOT oil compatible, and the braided hoses are all too stiff.
And these seem to be some kind of a Silicone/Rubber material.

Any help would be appreciated.

Christopher,
I believe that they are made out of some type of Nitrile rubber. Similar to what rubber o-rings are made out of, which are also pliable.
If the fuel/emissions hose is to stiff, you may be able to cut out a 90 degree bend section from the OEM hose then use a connector to plumb it to 5/8" fuel/emissions hose.
I've used this trick before when fabricating up heater/radiator hoses for custom car applications.
If your going to add a filter on the end of the vent line, you'll want to locate it in a fairly well protected dry place. Usually somwhere near the engine works well, as the heat from the engine will help keep it dry.
Places to avoid, would be above or near the exhaust system, near the brake or clutches, the nose cone (this area fills up with powder snow), or anywhere under a body vent where snow can fall in onto the filter.
What you want to avoid is having the snow melt onto the filter and water soaking the filter. Then when the sled sits in freezing weather, the filter ices up and doesn't allow the crankcase pressure to vent. The built-up crankcase pressure then can cause an issue with the oil pump scavage return rate and effect oil pump/pressure operation.

prefilter

Maybe you could put a prefilter over the filter in case water gets on it. I just bought the 09 Nytro that Outlaw had. It has the stage 2 super, TS front and rear susp. along with TS tunnel. I am having Dustin install the headshim and adjust the fuel mapping for pump fuel. I won't see the sled until I head out to Alpine Wyoming in a month. I believe the sled was built by ShaverLake powersports. The guy that sold it upgraded to a MCX turbo Nytro. I suppose that will be my next toy if I don't like the super. I am coming off an 09 summit x 800. Should be fun. All my buddies ride stock 800's for the most part.

Happy New Year.

5/8 heater hose from any auto parts store works great and is resistant to oil. incorporate a small copper 90 from the hardware store if you need to make a tight bend down

Anytime I have seen heater hose used on PCV system it bloats up twice its size in a few months. Dont think I would use that.

Automotive PCV breather hoses and EVAP system hose are made of the same type of material. Most of the time these hoses have to be bought from the dealer. Eric

I did my best to use existing hose that was left over after my supercharger was installed so I had something with a nice curve in it to go over the edge.

Ran it down the side, used a joiner and added a few more inches of straight oil resistent hose

And added a small K&N Breather at the bottom to control oil misting.

I placed a small square of double sided sticky foam to support the rollover valve from possibly bouncing on the oil tank.

With all the electrical connections back in place.

most of the hoses used for breathers have a nylon base that wont absorb oil too fast might take 5 or 6 years
