Had a buddy who was riding up timberlakes, UT saw off in the distance (church property) a sled with the hood up only one guy by the sled, the others in the group know it is private property so they waited on the trail. He went over to help, the guy is sherriff's patrol and proceeds to write him a ticket for trespassing. My buddy is super pi$$ed, as he should be. My buddy goes to court saying it was entrapment, but the judge just tells him so sorry you were trespassing the law is the law. Hopefully Karma got the sherriff's patrol and the judge.

Always stop and help, never know what the problem is, unless you check it out. last time we had a group of 3 that had 2 pretty inexpericenced riders that didn't really know where to go, so they kinda latched on to us, but was probably a good thing since one of them had a primary clutch fail in a bad spot, so he ended up leaving his new sled out there over night, and then we found a way to get everyone down since it was not possible to leave the way we came in.

what we thought was going to be a 3 o'clock off the mountain turned in to almost 8. lol

I very much agree karma is a bioch. That is why ill stop and ask people if they need help.because sooner or later it will be me that needs some help.

I guess it depends...

If it's in the play area next to the parking lot and the rider is in a group, not hurt or waving for help I cruise on by but if it's in the backcountry that's different. I always stop and ask if help is needed, then do what I can if the answer is yes.

I've been both giver and recipient of help several times.

around here everybody always stops to help, or at least to ask if they need help, couple times last year stopped and asked guys if they needed a hand and was told to F*** off, (i dont think they were too excited about where they got stuck) but 99% of the time everybody enjoys the help and hell, you meet a lot of new people that way too.

I am shocked how many people would stop to check on me.........started to get a little embarassing sometimes. Trench 3' deep standing there alone with a shovel.

I am a very independent and try to plan for all problems, sure is nice to have a helping hand sometimes.

I always stop its part of who I am, even if the lesson they are learning needs to be learned !

I will never forget a group I seen pass this guy on a older mountian max up on cottonwood pass. Guy was all over the road and blocked the group from passing around one of the lower turns. They cut around this guy and roosted him so bad he looked like a snowman. The guy just stopped, so I slowed down to see if he was ok. Turn out he was disabled and was taking a ride on the trail. Had some issues with his shoulders or something.

Later that day when heading home I seen a big enclosed trailer about halfway back to town with a flat in a real crappy spot. Guess who ?...............no I didnt stop !

That karma sure can be a beotch!!!

Someone once said, they stop for everyone on the trail. That's a little rediculous. If I did that, I'd be talking to people who don't need my help all day, instead of riding.

That said; I will help anyone who appears to need help, and have helped many people on the hill without expecting even an introduction. Take care of business, and get back to the business of riding.

People who decide not to help others are genuinely lazy in nature. You can't change lazy people.

Good Point. "Lazy" is an appropriate word for those who don't stop to help but not the only word:
A few more that come to mind:
-Disrespectful.
-Arrogant
-Useless
-Self centered
-Pompous
-Thoughtless
-Narrow minded
-Azzholes

I always stop to help, or see if it's needed.

About 10 years ago, when my buddies and I were first getting into mtn riding, a group went out to West Jellystone. I didn't make this trip, but my buddies dropped into a ravine near lions head. They spent about 3 hrs trying to get out. No luck. Some local guy was up there tuning his sled and saw these idiots in a bad spot. It was one of those drop in's with no way out at the bottom. The local knew that so he walked down and drove all of their sleds up one by one. He even drove one sled out that had an exhaust leak and the ony way to get power was to keep opening the hood...... He rode up the hill while popping the hood:eek:

My buddies look back on it and laugh at how easy the hill would be now, but back then they didn't have the skills.

Sure was nice of that guy to help them out.:beer;:beer;
