Helping a Newbie Out

0w40 arcticat synthetic has been my favorite out of yamalube, motorex, rotella ECT... I have been super happy and has been holding up to the turbo... Clutch feel and shifting feels great along with longevity ... On my 2014 450sxf

Just because it says 10W40 doesn't mean it won't pour the same as a 0W40. Every oil is different. For example Amsoil 0W40 or 5W40 or 10W40 will pour the same after being outside over night at -30C. Also Rotella 0W40 isn't JASO MA spec oil. Some oils will shift better than others. I tried Rotella in a couple different bikes. Some were fine and other not as smooth. Food for thought.

I took everyone's advice and went and got Rotella, It was not smooth at all... I am a big fan of Motorex in the KTM primarily because they "claim" they develop the oil with KTM. I also had a sx-f 250 which spent every hour of its life in full moto mode, with the 15w-60 Motorex the crank was within factory spec after 200hrs.

How long are you guys getting out of a clutch on your bikes?

300 hours out of my cr500...(Rotella 5w semi synthetic ) Up to 30 with turbo big bore ktm 450... ( New bike this year ...) Mostly arcticat 0-40 synthetic) Non snowbike KTM 300 I change plates every 300 hours... (Rotella 15w triple)

I'd be careful with the rotella in some of these high revving ktms, running the cheap white jug in mine and probably should have been running the blue T6, found the cams starting to wear the polish off them. Posted about it on ktm talk and other have had similar issues when running a 40weight oil. I should be able to just get my cams repolished and thankfully my dlc coated followers are fine, some guys have had to replace both cams and all four followers which is almost $1000 on the 350s. I will be running amsoil 10w-60 from here on out especially in the sustained high rpm snowbike application.
