I have a 2005 King Cat 900 EFI. I for some reason cant slid the secondary clutch off. Its been sitting all summer. I pulled it off a few time last year even on the mountain and never had a problem. Today I cant get it to slid off the shaft. Any ideas?

You have to keep some grease on the shaft or they will rust on. Try prying and tapping some. They make a puller but you can rig one up using a steering wheel puller. Take the roller cover off the clutch and use the three studs to anchor a flat puller, then tighten the center. Once you get it moving you may be able to pull it by hand. Spray some penitrating fluid around the shaft when you start. Maybe even running it a little with the rear suspended will viberate the rust loose.

Tap very lightly! Preferably with a rubber hammer. I have seen too many ruined by guys with big hammers. The penetrating oil with the sled tipped on its side for a few days and the puller are your best bets. I use some Never Seize on the shaft, it seems to stay there longer than other grease.

I got it off. I used a rubber hammer and a piece of wood and tapped all around it in both direction and final it broke free. It was wet and rusty all over the shaft. Thanks for all the help.

get her good and clean and then grease the $H1T out of it before putting it back on. For the clutch to work properly it needs to be able to float on that shaft about 3/16 of an inch.

One last question. I took the secondary all apart and cleaned it very well/ greased the shaft. Now i'm confusing my self when putting it back together. I put the washers between to two plates then set the spring in. What i'm not sure about is how much of a twist do i do once the outer piece is connected to the other end of the spring. I put the spring in the middle hole. If i recall that is the stock postion. does it need to be alined to something but pushing it down to bolt it? Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Wes

P.S. Sorry for the dumb question

cutch assembly

There are alignment marks on each of the clutch sheaves. One on the back and one on the front. They look like little lines. They need to be lined up with each other. Then put the washers or shims as they are called in. Then put the spring in and turn the piece with the rollers in it clock wise untill it reaches the first set of bolts it comes to. A roll of duct tape under the clutch helps with this proccess. Hope this helps. The other guys are right about the grease. I don't put alot of grease on the shaft because it can fly off onto the clutchs.
