Help with bent frame

OR

You could give us some detail's first, How, How and How.
Can you take a picture so we can get a better Idea of what could work.

Tree, Wall of snow, Rear end a two ski.

Get well soon hawk.

hey guys! my frame is a bit bent up front. its the section of my frame by my lower fork mounts! its bent towards my clutchs! whats the best way to bend back?

My suggestion would be to pull off the entire front end, including the forks, and try to cold bend it with a really big adjustable wrench or something attached to the end of the frame piece. If it's not bent too far, you should be able to muscle it back this way.

I bent the hell out of mine last year when I hit a massive rock and did a complete front flip. I bent it all the way back until it hit the clutch so my only option to unbend it was with heat. I used a torch and got it back to close where it should be, but I wouldn't suggest doing it this way. Unless you have the ability to heat treat the frame, the aluminum will be really weakened by heating it with a torch. I new this ahead of time, and I knew its days were numbered after I unbent it. About 5 rides later I hit something else not hard at all, and it broke the frame piece. After that time, I made a complete new frame piece out of steel so it won't bend again.

The annoying part about it is the newer Hawks have doublers added to the frame in that location, and others, because they realized that it was a weak spot in the design. Too bad they couldn't retrofit everyone's older Hawk too.

Are you bent here(red)? Mine was and it caused a channel to be worn in the frame back behind the brake where the belly pan ends.

I took off the bolts on the left side (Green) of the large diameter tube that holds the lower crown and cut a piece of two by four to fit in between the two frame rails(purple). I used the large tube as torque arm to bend it back to straight. After I noticed that the belly no longer rubbed on the frame.

OMFG-She doesn't have any clothes on!! With her legs all bent and bared for the world to see, embarrassed for life, LOL.

I must be one lucky feller, not to be facing the bent frame isssue with as many times as I have tumbled in the timber. Anyone got pics of the afore mentioned "doubler" reinforcement. Maybe it could be retrofitted to the older frames.

-berg, I can't believe that the T-6 held up at all after heating to bend. I bet you were happy to get another ride out of her. Got any pics of your steel upgrade?

Here are some pics of it when it bought the farm, and when I replaced it with steel. You can't see the replacement piece real well, but I basically just cut the old frame piece off and bolted the new steel piece on back by the motor plate mounts. The last pic is of the old frame piece I cut off.

Hauuuly Cow Eeberg...

I didn't thought someone could tear a S-H frame apart like that !

Attachments below states what ADB did in '08 to correct that weakness.

I think they should sell that as an upgrade kit...

What can i say, I'm good at breaking stuff. This is clearly shown by my current 2 busted motors situation.

I have that channel

I trimmed my plastic because a channel was wearing in the aluminum the whole length of the plastic... know what I'm looking at before next ride.

frame double!

my freind has 08 enduro, the extra frame supports should bolt right onto older machines, his machine has them top and bottom, could you just get away with bottom?(was considering) will take a closer look.

support?

does top do this also? what about going straight from crossbar with support (like pic) just on bottom (where breaking)? getting rid of splayed frame weakness. any problems? always been inherant problem with perimeter frame street bikes, you hit something and your frames toast.

Put some Graphics on.

LOOOOOL !!! That didn't happened to me !

Thanks to my Kustom Super-Thick TLKD Graphics ! LOL ! That proves you how over-thick & tough they are ! Those who got their orders can validate that for sure !

That's one season of normal usage that you see down there ! If I'd pull that sticker off, you'd think she'd be right off of the showroom floor. The angle of the photo is a bit weird but the plastic hasn't gone through the graphics yet. Putting the '09 kit in about two weeks...

Now let's put some graphics on these two front legs where it's weak, these will add about .024" of thickness !

tlkd has it...

the added strength to weight ration of his vinyl compared to steel or double aluminum cant be beat! you can even heat treat the vinyl as you apply it for a silky smooth finish!
