Looking for help in any form - against The hiden Gems organization in COLORADO.
This organization has mass momentum because they went under radar even using Senator Salazar and a ridiculous amount of money to push their campaign. I'm sure you have heard of their coalition and they have a website with proposed area to which they want to take over as "wilderness" prohibiting Hunters, Anglers, ATV , Snowmobile, dirtbike and mountain bikers to use this area. WE are avid outdoorsmen and women and they are having meetings in basalt colorado as they are trying to take that mountain first. next meeting is in Emma at the firehouse on monday the 17th.
their website is http://www.whiteriverwild.org/white-river-national-forest.php for the proposed land they want to take . If they get basalt mountain what's going to stop them from getting what ever they want.

PLEASE HELP US get the word out to fight together for our rights for this land use.

ADDITIONALLY
Subject: WILDERNESS ALERT

Good evening all,

As many of you already know Congressman John Salazar is sponsoring a Wilderness Bill in this legislative session. The bill is called the San Juan Mountains Wilderness Act of 2009. The bill has not been introduced yet but Congressman Salazar has it on his website http://www.house.gov/salazar/sjmw.shtml and is asking for comments by August 16, 2009. As I am sure you can figure out CSA does not support this proposal. TrailsWork Consulting has helped me prepare a position paper for CSA that has key reasons as to why. This position paper is attached to this email. I encourage each one of you to read this and identify reasons that strike a chord with you and prepare an appropriate comment to share with the Congressman's office. For those of you living in the Congressman's District (District 3) I suggest you contact one of his regional offices with your comments. You can get contact information on www.coloradosledcity.com, click on Land Use Issues, click on Congress and then on John Salazar's name. It is best to send your comments in writing, so please mail or fax or email your comments. For those of you not living in the Congressman's District email your comments to john.whitney@mail.house.gov. Please don't sit on the fence on this one!

Send a big thankyou to Wendy McDermott of Crested Butte for this!

She conspicuously left our local radical-wacko group "High Country Citizens Alliance" as director and re-surfaced with Hidden Gem$.

Disappointing.

Ironically, I got a flier from Sen. John Salazar stating how he was going to protect my 2nd Amendment rights! Thanks, John. LOL.

Vote Democrat = loose rights, and loose land.

MD.

I don't know about these tree hugers Most of the lands they are asking for have restrictions on travel ( must be on 2 track road with 4 wheeled and only single track with 2 wheeled) If you are off road you get fined. As far as sleds you can not tell if one has been there come spring.

I tried to email Salazar and because my postal code is not recognized I will not be able to do so. Maybe if the make an area wilderness it should be off limits to all travel even foot and no forest management so when the pine beetles infest and kill all the trees then lightening big fire devastation to the whole area. Now you can say there it is mother nature at her best.

I just went to his site and sent an email... I just made the point for him to actually visit these areas and see how this action is really unecessary...and that he's only going to limit the number of his "people" that will be able to enjoy the lands as they please.

And just think...........................more then three years of this maybe 7 !

The more I read about these bills the more I wonder where these people think they came from.............

I laugh becuse hunters generally speaking jump on the wilderness bandwagon, most forget the same enviro nuts are also animal wacko's.

To be honest I am at a loss how to deal with these bills. The voice of users is not being listened to, becuse it dosent fit the needs of those who PAID for the bill.

I am at a loss

just occurred to me, every month lately more land is designated Wilderness or simply out of public use and then public numbers wanting to use the lands is up (snowmobile, atv, ...)

with fewer acres, we will all be forced into smaller areas and then really cause some damage and people will get hurt due to crowding, that will only strengthen the wacko's argument

we must REVERSE THIS NOW or there will be NO recreation space left

Here's their counter for arguments against Wilderness Areas.

The organizations listed:
Wilderness Workshop
The Wilderness Society
Colorado Environmental Coalition
Southern Rockies Ecosystem Project
The Colorado Mountain Club

I doubt there are that many people in them, but they have money, are lawyered up and have the Congressmen in their pockets, to a great degree.
